On Thursday night, Mama said Nanaw should sleep in on Thursday, and she would bring the bug over between meetings, at about 10:30 if he didn't go to school, He was still coughing and feeling bad so he stayed home again. Mama brought a Lunchable for Chase's lunch, along with raspberries and yogurt. Nanaw went up to Chase's school to get his homework assignments out of the black box sitting in front of the school for the purpose of homework packets. Chase and Nanaw did lots of homework and studying. He had math homework, an English worksheet, and vocabulary words. They spent the afternoon studying for his religion test and science test that were scheduled for Friday; Chase would take the tests if he goes back to school. He also has a DLR test tomorrow -- that's daily literature review test. Monday through Thursday, the students in Chase's class correct sentences for grammar, punctuation and spelling. Then on Friday, the teacher selects one sentence from each day for students to correct. Chase still isn't doing well, coughing a lot and sometimes throwing up from coughing so hard. In the evening Mama and Becca went shopping in Waterloo and then out to dinner. In the evening, Daddy helped Chase study for his DLR, science and religion tests on Friday.

Chase was home from school again on Wednesday. Poor kid just can't catch a break. His cough is still really bad. Mama called the doctor but she said there just isn't anything they can do. She said if it continues, they could do some breathing tests. Daddy is going to buy a new humidifier and some Chloroseptic throat spray to see if that helps. The first picture below is from a Jack Skellington ballpoint pen that Mama bought for Chase. It lights up and puts a picture of Jack on the ceiling or floor or wherever you want. Chase ate a normal breakfast and didn't throw up. But he ate soup at lunch and threw that up., He seems to throw up when he starts coughing and can't stop. He got another huge stack of homework and has been doing a wonderful job of working on it. He played with his hockey locker room again today for a long while and really enjoys it. He and Nanaw sat at the computer and ordered all the Playmobil things for his birthday presents from Amazon. Nanaw wants to get him a $200 Roku TV for Christmas with a DirectTV app. Mama says she and Daddy will discuss it. She says they have to straighten his room out first. When Chase gets home, he and Daddy are going to walk around outside so he gets some exercise. He was going to do it here at Nanaw's house but Daddy texted him and said they could do it at Chase's house.

Once again, Mama texted Nanaw to tell her that Chase wasn't going to school. She said he was coughing a lot and wasn't feeling any better. Later, Mama texted asking Nanaw to ask Chase what wall calendar he wanted for next year. He said he wanted an NHL hockey calendar. Mama really liked that idea. When Mama brought Chase over to Nanaw's, she told him he couldn't play with devices all day. She said he could have an hour and a half in the morning and an hour and a half in the afternoon. He played with his hockey locker room for a long time, then did his AR reading, and then set an Alexa timer for his 90 minutes of device time. Chase and Nanaw went downstairs at about 11 because it was almost time for the cleaning lady to come. After the cleaning lady left, Nanaw went up to Chase's school to pick up his homework assignments but there was nothing in the homework box. Nanaw called Mama about it, and Mama emailed Chase's teacher. The teacher emailed back that the homework would be in the box at pickup time. Nanaw went and picked it up. Once again, there was so much homework. Chase started working on it right away and to Nanaw's surprise, got everything done but the history assignment and his second AR reading session of the day. Chase said he wouldn't be going to school tomorrow and would be do his history notes tomorrow. When Nanaw took Chase home, Mama and Daddy said they would be the ones to make the decision about whether he goes to school tomorrow.

Mama texted Nanaw early Monday morning to tell her that Chase wouldn't be going to school because he was having long coughing fits. Mama asked Nanaw if she would be able to take Chase to the doctor if she could get an appointment. Nanaw said of course. Chase ate a little breakfast before they left but didn't drink his milk or eat the fruit Mama sent. When they got to the doctor's office, they learned that Chase's appointment had been accidentally scheduled for Friday. A very nice, helpful lady at the front desk was able to get Chase in. Chase weighed 93.4 pounds but they didn't take his height. First, they saw a young lady who was a resident at Washington University. Then a little later they saw Dr. DePalma, Chase's regular doctor. They did a strep test and a combo nasal swab testing for Covid, flu and RSV. All of the tests were negative. Around noon, Mama picked up his schoolwork from school. Five kids from his class including Chase were out sick so something must be going around. He ate a little chicken noodle soup for lunch then took a 45-minute nap. Then he was ready to do his school work. And as expected, there was a lot of it. He did as much as he could and then was going to finish it tonight. He didn't go to hockey practice. Nanaw had hoped they could watch Graceland Christmas today but there wasn't enough time. Maybe they can watch it sometime later this week.

Chase and Daddy went to church on Sunday morning, but Daddy canceled Chase's pitching lesson because Chase was coughing so much. The cough medicine didn't seem to be helping much. Last night after the Christmas parade, they got Taco Bell for dinner. Chase got a cheese quesadilla and a chicken quesadilla but only ate the cheese one. So he had the chicken quesadilla for lunch. Mama got a hard taco and a soft taco. Daddy got a gordita, which is a soft taco inside a hard taco. Nanaw came over a little before five to draw NHL logos with Chase. But he had a headache and had to go lie down rather than drawing logos. So Nanaw drew an NHL logo by herself. Unfortunately, Nanaw has zero artistic ability and her logo looked awful. However, both Chase and Mama told her there are no mistakes in art. All art is good. Nanaw thinks that's what Chase's art teacher tells her students. His art teacher is named Carol and her birthday is March 8, just like Nanaw. Nanaw went into Chase's room while he was lying down. She brought the worry worms with her and told Chase she had decided they were also wish worms that they could use to make wishes. They talked about his second-quarter book report, which is due either December 14 or 18. Chase is going to check tomorrow to find out what the actual due date. He told Nanaw he had selected Linked as the book for his book report. Tomorrow Nanaw is going to make a copy of the activity selections for the book report and go to the county library to check the book out. The picture below is Chase lying against Mama's humongous R2D2 pillow that Mama brought upstairs to help him sit up in bed because he coughs less when he's sitting up.

On Saturday morning, Chase and Daddy went to get Chase fitted for his baseball uniform. Mama and Nanaw went to the ICS Craft Fair. Mama bought several presents for Chase. She also bought a red worry worm that looks like Elmo for herself. They both bought Christmas cookies. Later, Nanaw went back and bought three worry worms: two blue ones that look like the Cookie Monster for Chase and a beautiful deep pink for herself that she named Strawberry. In the afternoon Nanaw went over to Chase's house to visit. She gave Chase his worry worm and showed him the second one and told him it would live at Nanaw's house. Nanaw plans to have both of the worry worms at her house by their computers in the computer lab. Chase and Nanaw played with Chase's hockey Playmobil for a long time; they had a tournament and the Blues won the Stanley Cup. Yay! For his birthday and Christmas, Nanaw is going to get him a hockey Playmobil that will live at her house for him to play with there, along with a Zamboni machine, players, coaches, owners, scoreboard, etc. In the evening, Mama, Daddy and Chase went to the Columbia Christmas parade. Mama said that at first Chase hung back and didn't go out with his friends to grab the candy the parade people threw out to them.  But finally, he went with Brady and Hunter to get candy.

Mama had the day off from work so she took Chase to school. Mama brought her three dozen cookies for tomorrow’s craft fair so she walked in with Chase. Chase went to Santa’s Cottage and bought Christmas presents for Mama, Daddy and Nanaw. While he was there shopping, someone took a picture of him that was posted on the school‘s Facebook page, along with the photo the principal took of him reading the Pledge of Allegiance and the ICS Mission Statement. So Chase made Facebook twice this week. On Friday morning, Mama and Nanaw went Christmas shopping and ran errands. They went to the library where Mama checked out four Christmas romance novels. They went to Walmart and bought lots of miscellaneous things. Nanaw was happy to find a Christmas stocking for her kitties. Next, they went to the AB brewery where Mama bought Christmas presents for Uncle Mike. Next, they went to Macy’s at South County Mall because Nanaw wanted to see the Christmas things because they always Make her feel Christmassy. But it was sort of a disappointment. In the afternoon, the plan was to take Chase to Handyman Hardware to see their decorations. But Mama got a call from the school secretary to tell her Chase was throwing up. When Mama went back into school to get the rest of Chase's things, she saw the principal coming to clean up the mess. Mama felt bad but laughed when he said to her “You owe me!” Nanaw went over to see Chase in the late afternoon, and he had a slight fever and was really tired but at least he wasn’t throwing up anymore. Mama bought two new blow-ups for the front yard. Daddy put up the Santa with Santa Jack and the Snowman with the penguins. Then he put the brown dog with Baby Shark so Baby Shark wasn't lonely.
