When Mama dropped Chase off on Wednesday morning, she told Nanaw that Chase didn't have school this Friday because of Veterans' Day. So Chase and Nanaw will have an extra day for adventures. Nanaw thinks maybe they'll go to the Science Center. On Thursday, Nanaw plans for them to go to the Train House. After school, Chase and Nanaw went to the little park by the Columbia library. Chase was excited when Brady's grandma brought Brady and Emma to the park. Chase and Brady had a great time playing together. They even danced together to the musical toy Emma was playing with -- it was very cute. After the park, Chase and Nanaw went to the Telegraph Road library. Chase was excited to see two new things in the children's playroom: a cash register and lots of groceries at the little marketplace cart and a new train table and trains. He liked the cash register best of all. They stayed for a long time, while Chase played with the other children there -- it was very cute.

Mama brought Chase to Nanaw's house early so she could go vote before work. Nanaw told Chase they were going to the voting place, and Chase thought she was saying boating place -- very funny. He decided he didn't want to go there and started crying about going. But by the time they got there, he had stopped crying and was fine about going, especially when he saw the plate of cookies the church had put out for voters. Chase did his shy act with the people at the poll who said hello to him and tried to do high five. But he was very happy to take a chocolate chip cookie with M&M's. After voting, Chase and Nanaw went to the Magic House. Unbeknownst to Nanaw, the Magic House had a special election day event , and it was really crowded. But Chase enjoyed having so many boys and girls there. He played in the tech area with the musical balls, played in the craft area, played with the Lego cars, played in the water works, went to the bank and the electric company, played with the bubbles and went down the rope ladder. On the way out, he spent time with the air ball gadgets. Chase had a great time -- he really loves the Magic House.

Back to normal on Monday. Mama and Daddy were off from work so they both took Chase to school. Nanaw picked Chase up because the fireplace man was coming in the afternoon to fix Chase's fireplace. On the way home from school, Chase and Nanaw went to the little park by the library. Chase was very excited to see Brady there. He and Brady started playing together, and then they were both excited when Audrey joined them. Chase and Nanaw stayed at the park for almost an hour because Chase was having so much fun. After the park, After the park, Chase and Nanaw went to Dollar Tree where Chase got a checkers game, a can of silly string and some googly eyes. When they got home, Chase and Nanaw played a game of checkers with Chase's new game. At Rockbridge, he and Daddy played on the big checkers table, except Chase made up his own rules. Nanaw tried to teach him the right way to play. They had fun playing and Chase almost followed the rules -- great progress.
Rockbridge Weekend 2016 (Friday, November 4 to Sunday, November 6, 2016)
Chase had a wonderful time with Mama, Daddy, Aunt Becky, Uncle Mike, Sam, Cheyenne and Nanaw at Rockbridge. On the drive to Rockbridge and on the ride back home on Sunday, Chase was absolutely engrossed in watching his Richard Scarry video on his DVD player -- it was cute to see. On both Friday and Saturday, Daddy took Chase fishing, although it only lasted a short time -- Chase is always ready to go on to something new. Mama caught the first fish -- a tiny one -- that the fish people didn't let her keep. The superb meals at the restaurant are one of the best parts of the Rockbridge trip. Chase especially enjoyed the bread with dinner; he would have only eaten bread if Mama and Daddy would have permitted. On Saturday, he had butterfly-shaped pancakes, and on Sunday he had trout-shaped pancakes. Nanaw brought along Chase's huge box of Hot Wheels and Cars cars and other cars. Mama brought his truck and track, and Chase had fun playing with his cars. He had a super time going on walks with Mama, Sam and Nanaw. The last walk was a semi-danger walk with everybody. Mama didn't want to go on the real danger walk by the cave; Chase was convinced that there were bears in the cave, and he really wanted to go -- maybe next year. It was a perfect adventure, as always.

Well, Nanaw took only one picture of Chase on Thursday -- bad Nanaw! Chase and Nanaw stayed home in the morning, straightening up the house for the cleaning lady. Even Chase helped pick up his toys -- he's such a sweetheart. Nanaw told Chase that they would leave for Walmart when both hands on the clock pointed to 12. He came running to find Nanaw, calling out, "They're both on 12! They're both on 12!" Smart little fellow. Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart to go grocery shopping and to buy toys for Chase -- he got two Thomas trains in mystery mini bags -- which Chase calls mini winebags. He also got a Hot Wheels mini winebag. After Walmart, they returned books to the library, then dropped off a donation at Goodwill. Next they went to the car wash, which Chase slept through. Quite a lot of errands. When they got home, Uncle Mike was there. He was going to cut Nanaw's grass, wash the side of her house with bleach to get the green stains off, and fix the bathroom sink drain. So he was a busy guy. Chase was very excited about the upcoming fishing trips -- he wants to go fishing.

Chase brought three of his dinosaurs along with him when Nanaw picked him up. He named them: Chase, Chuck and Bubble Squawk -- he has quite the imagination. Nanaw forgot to bring along Chase's Thomas pillow for his rest time when she took him to school. She told Chase she was sorry she had forgotten it. And that sweet little boy said, "That's okay, Nanaw. I can rest without it." When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, they went to the big park for Chase to play. He was happy that there were two little girls there that he could play with. He raced his three little cars that he uses in the park. He went on the slides, played in the sand, played on the airplane, and walked on the danger things -- and fell off the last one. Fortunately, he didn't hurt himself. He still didn't drink any chocolate milk at Nanaw's house but drank lots of orange juice. When Nanaw took Chase home, she had to remember to take the dinosaurs and all of Chase's artwork from school. As soon as Chase got home, he and Daddy played in the kitchen with the little Halloween bouncy balls -- one of Chase's bounced into the sink, and Chase got a big kick out of that.

Chase and Nanaw had a quiet day at home, mostly. Chase told Nanaw he wanted to go somewhere, and Nanaw asked him where he wanted to go. No surprise when he said he wanted to go to Dollar Tree. So they went to Dollar Tree and bought a Hot Wheel, a Tic Tac Toe game, a moveable turkey and some Star Wars medallions. Chase played a lot with abcmouse. He wanted to check to see if the Halloween page was gone, and it was -- although they still had some pumpkins (not jack o lanterns. They also did a lot of Hamster bowling and did a lot of laughing. Chase still wouldn't drink any chocolate milk but Nanaw had Mama buy calcium-enriched orange juice, and he likes that. On the way home to Chase's house, Chase and Nanaw sang a rousing edition of Old MacDonald, started by Chase -- it was great fun.
