Friday morning, Chase played with his marbles, Roblox figures and rock collection on Pawpaw’s bed. Later in the day, Sidney Crosby the Cat got up on the bed and knocked some of the marbles on the floor. It was very funny and Chase enjoyed hearing about it after school. Once again, Chase got filthy at school – he said it was from playing bumper cars. After Mama got off work, she picked up Chase and Nanaw and they went shopping at Shoe Carnival. Mama bought Chase a new pair of shoes and a pair of boots for herself. Chase and Nanaw played basketball in the basketball area, and Chase had lots of fun. He got five baskets and Nanaw, amazingly enough, got two baskets. Next, they went to Walmart so Nanaw could buy kitten treats, and Mama bought food for their dinner. In the evening, Mama planned a movie night. Nanaw came over with her TV dinner, and then everyone sat in the living room and watched the movie Hotel Transylvania 3. Chase sat with Mama and Nanaw on the couch for awhile, and Nanaw really liked that.

Thursday, November 8, 2018

When Chase came to Nanaw’s house, they played in Chase room. He carried all his "amamals" from his carry bag to his room. It was very cute. Nanaw did her volunteer thing in Chase’s class on Thursday morning, and as usual, the kids were rowdy but wonderful. Chase acts up as much or more than anyone. Mama thinks it’s just because I’m there. Nanaw had a good time, and she got to see and hug Mrs. Herrmann. When Nanaw picked Chase up, he was filthy again. He said they played pretend bumper cars at recess and he got dirty falling down. After school, Chase and Nanaw watched the weather channel in his room, while he ate pepperoni and mozzarella cheese as his after-school snack. Chase was very excited when the weather channel forecast said we might have a rain and snow mix tonight. Chase said he would call it a mix. When Nanaw took Chase home, he demonstrated to Mama how they played bumper cars at recess and how he fell down and got dirty. Mama said not to do it anymore. As part of his homework tonight, he has to make a suitcase out of brown construction paper. Very interesting. Nanaw can’t wait to see it tomorrow morning.

Wednesday, November 7, 2018

When Chase got to Nanaw’s house on Wednesday, he said he wanted to go downstairs and play the piano but then changed his mind, saying that Nanaw would make him get dressed fast. It was very funny. So he stayed upstairs and watched the weather channel on TV. He had Nanaw write down the names of his "crew" on a small piece of paper. He put the paper in his pants pocket and took it to school. In the afternoon, he told Nanaw the paper got torn but that Henry made another list. Nanaw went to Dobbs for a new battery, and the furnace guys finished up their work today. After school, Chase went to the auditions for the Christmas play. When Nanaw went to pick Chase up after school, Mrs. Neff told Nanaw that he’d gone to the cafeteria for Christmas play tryouts. Nanaw laughed and said she didn’t know she was supposed to meet him there. So Nanaw went to the cafeteria to find Chase. She sat at one of the cafeteria tables, and two Amelies came to sit with her. From Chase’s class, here are the ones who were there for auditions: Brady, William, Evie, Amelie, Brooke, and Emmalynn. Chase was absolutely filthy. His face was dirty and his hands were black. His jacket was full of dirt. He said he fell down outside in the dirt. The audition room was a madhouse with the kids talking and yelling. Fortunately, the actual auditions were done in a separate classroom. Chase said he sang Jingle Bells for his audition and that it went well. We’ll see what happens. He’ll find out if he got a part and what he needs to do for a costume and what the rehearsal schedule is.

Tuesday, November 6, 2018

When Chase got to Nanaw’s house on Tuesday morning, he wanted to go downstairs and play on the piano keyboard. Nanaw said okay but he had to get himself dressed for school first. Nanaw was impressed with how quickly he got dressed – faster than ever before. He had a good time playing with the keyboard again. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he was so excited about his new adventure. He said he had a "crew" – he said his crew was a team that did battle. Here are his crew members: Henry, Brady, William, Evan and Cole. He said Amelie was a maybe. Nanaw asked about Evie, and Chase said she was on the other team. On the way home from school, Chase and Nanaw stopped by Chase’s house to let Sam out. Chase gave him lunch meat as a treat – very cute. Chase and Nanaw went to vote, and they both got "I Voted" stickers. Chase also was given a candy bar and a cookie. Mama had a hair appointment so Chase stayed with Nanaw until Daddy was done voting.

Mama had the day off from work so she took Chase to school. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, it was raining hard. She brought an umbrella for him to use. He told Nanaw that they went outside for first recess, had a half-in, half-out recess at lunch, and stayed in and played with iPads at third recess. He played Math Racing with Brady and other boys. Chase said he was in first place two times, and he was very excited about that. When Chase and Nanaw got home, Chase wanted to go downstairs and watch the tornado movie they’d watched at Rockbridge so that’s what they did. Then Chase said he wanted to play the piano (the keyboard downstairs), so Nanaw set it up for him. He had a great time selecting songs to play – like Living Life ( a Spanish song), When the Saints Go Marching In, Star Wars, Whole New World, and Happy Birthday. He’s very musical – Nanaw wonders if he’ll ever want to play a musical instrument. Chase and Nanaw practiced his challenge spelling words for this week. Last week, he missed two words and got a G instead of an O.

Rockbridge Weekend -- Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 2, 3 and 4, 2018

This was the annual Rockbridge weekend fishing trip with Mama, Daddy, Chase, Sam, Uncle Mike, aunt Becky and Nanaw. It was a wonderful weekend and everybody had a great time. Before they left, Mama asked Chase what was his favorite thing about Rockbridge and he said, "Breakfast!" Funny boy but he's right. The food is one of the main attractions of Rockbridge. The left about 9 on Friday morning and stopped at Panera in Rolla, as usual. They didn't get to visit with Natalie because she was working . They got to Rockbridge around 1 and had a delicious lunch before Daddy, Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky went fishing. Mama, Chase and Sam went for a long, delightful walk. Dinner was delicious also -- Chase eats really well at Rockbridge. Mama and Chase went fishing on Saturday and had fun but neither one caught a fish. The highlight of the day was the Bingo game. Mama had bought prizes at Dollar Tree, and it was an excellent game. Everybody won at least one game except Nanaw. But Mama gave Nanaw one of her prizes: an owl ornament. On Sunday, Chase and Nanaw played Words with Friends, and both had a super time playing. Now they have a new thing to do together. Mama bought Chase a stuffed chickadee, and Nanaw bought one for Chase also. Nanaw bought a new walking stick for herself because she couldn't find her old one. Nanaw also bought Rockbridge shirts for Mama, Daddy, Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky as part of their Christmas presents. Nanaw thought it was one of the best Rockbridge trips ever!

Thursday, November 1, 2018

Because Chase's class was going to mass at the big church, Nanaw didn't do her volunteering in the class on Thursday. That was probably a good thing because of the cleaning lady coming, grocery shopping and packing for tomorrow's trip to Rockbridge. On the way home from school, Chase had a conversation with Nanaw about a new app he and some friends played on the class iPads. The name of it is Math Racing. When they got home, Nanaw installed it on her iPad and her iPhone. She and Chase sat in his room on his futon and played the game for awhile. It's really a good game for math, and kids probably really like the excitement of the race cars. Twice Chase walked in water puddles deliberately, and unfortunately, Nanaw told Mama about it. She wasn't very happy, and she gave Chase a timeout. In the evening, Mama texted Nanaw about a problem with their electrical power. Evidently something is causing problems in their neighborhood where the lights are dim. Ameren projected that it would be fixed by 11 p.m. Nanaw is taking along lots of toys to Chase for Rockbridge so hopefully he'll be happy about that.
