Nanaw changed up Chase's school activities on Wednesday. He said he didn't want to do morning work and other regular stuff. So they did science experiments and reading instead. They did the experiment with the baking soda and vinegar that makes a big fizzing and bubbling thing. Then they made oobleck. The Internet says: "Oobleck is a non-newtonian fluid. That is, it acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. You can grab it and then it will ooze out of your hands. Make enough Oobleck and you can even walk on it!" Chase put blue food coloring in the oobleck and made it into slime. Chase and Nanaw had fun playing with the blue slime. Then they played with the peach and purple slime that Mama bought from Walgreen's. Nanaw put hers back in the bottle when she was done playing with it, and Chase asked her to put his back in the bottle when he was done. Then he played in the sink with the fish and fishing poles. For reading, he read a story in the heavy book: "The Mystery of the Tadpole." Tomorrow, Nanaw will return to the regular school format with morning work and handwriting and subtraction practice. It's cleaning lady day so we'll do it downstairs.

Nanaw had a wonderful day on Tuesday with Chase, their first day of summer vacation. Chase played on the laptop for a little while Tuesday morning. Chase and Nanaw planted the green pepper plants and the cucumber plants Nanaw bought last night at Home Depot; Chase did a lot of watering and so did Nanaw. They checked out the sandbox and discovered that Chase will probably be able to play in it; he says he will tomorrow. Then they had the first day of summer school. Chase did lots of work, including morning work, Spring Prep, three of the new pages from Mrs. Meyer (Nanaw calls them the fancy pages and will do so from now on), handwriting practice, subtraction flashcards and subtraction problems. Chase also watched Room 9 on Channel 9 while he ate his lunch. When school was done, Chase and Nanaw had a lot of fun playing with the kinetic sand. Nanaw thinks that tomorrow they'll play in the water at the sink. After kinetic sand, Chase and Nanaw drove to the library to return all of Mama's books and Nanaw's CDs in the drop box. When they got home, Chase played for a little while on the laptop; then it was time to take him home. Nanaw was happy that she was able to limit his time on the laptop, and she will try to do that this summer by playing with him and finding all kinds of things they can do together.

Mama sent Nanaw and Uncle Mike a photo of a lizard, which they liked. Then Mama sent a selfie of her and Chase. Next she sent a picture of Chase on top of a new storage container they bought. Chase said they're going to store baseball stuff, pillows, Nerf guns and other stuff in the storage thing. Chase was playing with iridescent slime on top of the storage unit. Mama bought it for Chase when she went to Walgreen's to get ear drops for Chase. Nanaw came for dinner in the evening. Daddy made yummy barbecued ribs, and Mama made delicious corn on the cob. After dinner, Chase and Nanaw went to Chase's room to play with his guys on his bed. Mama said not to mess up the covers because she just made the bed. After Mama was finished cleaning up the dishes, Mama, Nanaw and Chase went for a walk in the field. Then Nanaw left. On her way home, Nanaw decided to go to Home Depot to see if they had cucumber and green pepper plants. They did, so she got two of each. She decided to wait to plant them until tomorrow so Chase could help her do it.

On Sunday morning, Mama dropped Chase off at Nanaw's house for a visit while she went grocery shopping at Schnuck's. When Mama and Chase got to Nanaw's, she was outside watering her garden that Uncle Mike planted for her. Chase wanted to try the hose so Nanaw gave it to him. He was fascinated with the sprayer thing Uncle Mike brought for the hose, trying out all the settings. One of his favorite things to do was killing ants with the hard stream settings. He also watered all of Nanaw's plants. Nanaw texted Uncle Mike about what Chase was doing, and Uncle Mike thought that was funny. After Chase was done watering, he came into the house to play on the laptop. Evidently, he had missed the laptop while he was in Florida. Nanaw sat with him for awhile and brought him chocolate milk and applesauce. Nanaw was planning to go out to the little house so she did some packing.

Nanaw was very excited on Saturday about Chase coming home from Florida. She missed him lots. Nanaw tracked their progress home on Life 360. Mama said they should be home about 7 p.m. so Nanaw packed up the dogs and all their accouterments and took them home about 6:45, right at the time Mama, Daddy and Chase were getting home. So they were all carrying things in the house at the same time. The dogs were happy to see Mama but Mama was concerned that Sylvester was sort of ignoring her. Mama decided that Sylvester was unhappy with her for leaving him behind. Hopefully, things will get better soon. Nanaw sat with Chase while he ate his dinner. Then they went into the living room and watched TV and played on their devices.

On Friday morning, Mama sent Nanaw a video of Chase dancing on Thursday night. It's the first image below. Then Mama sent two pictures of Mama, Daddy and Chase on the beach. Next Mama sent a picture of Mama, Daddy and Chase in matching tie dye shirts that cousin Cesi made for them. She made shirts for everybody and the families had matching shirts. Nanaw took Sam and Sylvester for a walk and took a picture of them to send t to Mama -- she really misses her dogs. Nanaw went to Chase 's house to take in the mail, and she found ants on the mail in the mailbox. She brushed all the ants off. She got to talk to Grandma Pat for awhile and told her all about the invading ants. Nanaw went to Telegraph Road for grocery shopping because she wanted to get home in time for a movie, Red Sparrow, which turned out to be a really good movie. Nanaw cleaned out her pantry today; it was the second to last on her project list for while Chase was gone. She's done her closet and the two bathroom cabinets. The only one left is to clean up all the stuff Chase spread around downstairs. She'll do that tomorrow.

Last Nanaw sent Mama a picture with a caption: "A fire, a candle, a dog, and a cat. Good times!" It's the first picture below. Mama said Chase wanted to stay up till midnight like his cousins were going to do but Mama and Daddy said he had to go to bed at 11. She said they were all singing Air Supply songs. In the morning, Mama sent two pictures of Chase and Daddy feeding turtles from the deck of Stinky's Fish Camp. They had bought turtle food. Then Mama sent a picture of Chase with his cousin Elias; it looks like they like they're having lunch in the $3 million dollar house. Nanaw went over to Chase's house in the afternoon to take in the mail and visit with Grandma Pat. Nanaw showed Grandma Pat the picture of Chase and Daddy feeding the turtles. Uncle Mike came to cut Nanaw's grass and to plant her Mother's Day tomato plants and cucumber plants and flowers. Sam and Sylvester were excited to see Uncle Mike. Nanaw took the dogs for a walk and took their picture and sent it to Mama. Back at the house, Uncle Mike was sitting at the kitchen counter and all three of Mama's pets were milling around him -- milling was Uncle Mike's word. Mama sent a message that they had just had bacon and then she sent pictures of her and Chase in the golf cart, going to get ice cream.
