On Monday morning, Nanaw had a doctor’s appointment so she took him home to stay with Mama and daddy. He had lunch while he was there -- a Lunchable. Back at Nanaw’s house, they had school. Chase always fusses that he doesn’t want to have school but he always eventually does it. The fractions book is doing overkill on counting how many parts of figures are shaded. Nanaw wants them to get to studying real fractions. Maybe it will be soon; the other book seems a bit easy for Chase but at least he can review what he learned in third grade. Nanaw is very impressed with the smart little Chase. Sometimes school is fun for them both and sometimes not.

On Sunday, Chase had baseball practice. In the evening Nanaw came over for dinner. The paddleball set was delivered so Nanaw brought it along with her. Chase and Nanaw played with it and had lots of fun. Then Chase and Daddy played with it and they had a good time too. Dinner was steak that Mama bought at Schnuck’s. Nanaw had a T-bone but Mama wouldn’t let Nanaw give the bone to the dogs because they would fight over it. They also had delicious corn n the cob. After dinner, they all went outside while Daddy and Chase practiced pitching and batting. Chase played in the sandbox for awhile and Nanaw said he would have to play in the turtle sandbox at Nanaw’s house. Then they all went into the house for dessert. Mama bought an angel food cake, strawberries and whipped cream. It was delicious.

Mama brought Chase over to Nanaw's house on Saturday morning while she went to the grocery store. Chase had his short buzz cut that Nanaw loves! Chase and Nanaw took the guys (plus the four backups) downstairs and put them in the playpen. They also brought the tablet, and Chase had a great time playing with the tablet and the guys. The backups were going to have a sleepover with Chase Saturday night but unfortunately, one of them, a rogue, got left behind. He's going to sleep with Nanaw tonight and then have a sleepover with Chase on Sunday night. Daddy was going golfing on Saturday so Chase and Mama had a mother and son adventure. They went to V-stock at the mall looking for a baseball game that Chase wanted. V-stock didn't have it so Mama and Chase went to Walmart to buy the game. Mama said there's now a Dollar Tree by Walmart. Later, when Nanaw went to the cemetery, she saw that it was located where Petco used to be. Chase and Nanaw will check it out next week. After their trip to Walmart, Chase and Mama played putt putt at the place near Columbia. Chase had said he wanted to go to the driving range but changed his mind. Mama and Chase went home and Chase downloaded his new baseball game and played it for awhile. Then he went out to play in his pool.

Chase and Nanaw had a busy day on Friday. First, Chase and Nanaw did their AR reading so that they didn't forget to do it or run out of time. After AR reading, they went to the  Cliff Cave library, where Chase helped return books for himself, Mama and Nanaw. Then he selected a book to check out for himself -- a Stick Dog book. Next, he signed up for the summer reading program. When they got home, Nanaw put up the sprinkler for Chase, and he had a great time running through the water. Of course, he played water baseball and got the soft bat and ball from Schnuck's all wet. Chase and Nanaw played downstairs before school; Chase was in the playpen with all the guys and the tablet, and Nanaw worked on cleaning up the school room. School went really well. Chase did the excavation toy that they bought at Dollar Tree for his science project. In the evening, Mama went to a happy hour, and Daddy took Chase for a haircut. They also went to the driving range, and Chase told Mama he did his best job ever.

Chase and Nanaw had another good day on summer break. The first thing Nanaw did was to set the frozen bread on the stove to rise. It was supposed to rise for 4 to 7 hours but Nanaw let it rise for 8 hours. (The first picture below is the bread before rising; the fourth picture is the baked bread. The bread was delicious; Chase and Nanaw ate several pieces, and Nanaw gave Uncle Mike a piece when he got there. She also sent half a loaf home with Mama -- it was a great success!) After that, they went to the Columbia Dollar Tree and bought lots of swim stuff, multiplication and division flashcards, Hot Wheels, gumballs for Nanaw's gumball machine and lots of other stuff. When they got back to Nanaw's Chase put the gumballs in the machine and was so excited about it. For lunch, Chase had some rice Mama sent plus more Lazy Lasagna and a croissant. After lunch, Chase had school. Unfortunately, he dawdled and messed around and used up his AR time and some of this swim time. Nanaw will make sure they do better tomorrow. Uncle Mike came to cut the grass, and Chase had a great time playing with the hose and with one of his little swimming pools. He loves to play in the water. Mama and Daddy came to pick Chase up at 5:20; they'd taken Daddy's truck to the dealer. Mama said she was going to ask Chase if he wanted to go to another camp, Jesus Jam at Hope Church, the week after his STEM camp. Nanaw is sad to miss another week with Chase but she knows he'll have a good time with his friends: Mason, Hunter, Brady and Emma.

Chase and Nanaw had another good day today except that Nanaw had to spend almost two hours on the phone with AT&T trying to get her iPad data plan account fixed. But nobody could help her so she just cancelled the account. Nanaw will use the hotspot on her phone for the iPad when there's no WiFi. Nanaw made Lazy Lasagna last night for Chase, and he ate lots of it for lunch, along with two croissants. After lunch, Chase and Nanaw had school. Chase said they were going to do the yeast experiment first and so they did. Chase did a good job of reading the directions out loud and telling Nanaw what to do. The experiment didn't really seem to have the correct results, but Chase and Nanaw had fun doing all the various steps. Once again, Chase did really well on the workbook pages. After Chase finished the workbook pages, he and Nanaw went downstairs so Nanaw could work on the school room. Chase took the guys and the tablet to play in the playpen and watch Curious George on Chase TV. Mama sent a text saying there was a package at Nanaw's house, addressed to Chase. She said it belonged at Nanaw's house. Nanaw brought it downstairs for Chase to open. It turned to be four backups of Tee Tee. Nanaw called Mama to tell her how cute they were, and Mama said she only ordered one and only paid for one but they sent four. Chase said they all have to stay together because they're siblings. Nanaw lost track of time and was a little late getting Chase home in time for baseball practice.

Chase brought his sticky ball game over to Nanaw's house on Tuesday. After Mama left, Chase and Nanaw played with the sticky ball game in the hall for awhile. Nanaw took a nap in the morning, then she and Chase went to Walgreen's to pick up Nanaw's prescription for steroids. Nanaw could tell a little difference from not taking the steroids in the morning; she got a little short of breath. Chase and Nanaw saw Daddy at Walgreen's; he was there picking up a prescription, and Chase was surprised to see Daddy. In Walgreen's, Chase wanted a Shy Guy in a car so Nanaw bought that for him, along with a bag of Skinny Pop popcorn. For lunch, Chase had a corn dog TV dinner, along with carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. During the day he also had strawberries and apple slices. After lunch, Chase and Nanaw had school for an hour or so. Chase did really well on his workbook pages. Chase kept saying he was tired so Nanaw said they would take a nap. Of course, he protested but he fell asleep the minute his head hit the pillows. Mama told Nanaw she had a recipe that called for a cast iron skillet but she didn't have one. Nanaw thought she had one and said she'd look for it. She found it and sent a picture to Mama, and Mama said she wanted to borrow it. Chase had an eight o'clock baseball game tonight so it was a good thing that he took a nap. Chase's team won the baseball game! Nanaw didn't go because it was a late game; she looked it up on the GameChanger app.
