Nanaw was very happy to get all of the things done with Chase Monday morning: She put antibiotic cream on his many chigger bites, made sure he brushed his teeth, got his breakfast for him, and fixed his water bottle. He chose his pizza mask to wear today. After school, Chase wanted to go to the little library park to play with Brady but Nanaw wanted to go home. At home, Chase told Nanaw about Ethan and AJ and their pretend tattoos. They gave Chase a shark tattoo with a washable marker. Chase decided that he would have a tattoo company. He made a sheet of sample tattoos and some paper money -- dollars and coins. (He had Nanaw cut out the coins, of course.) Mama was helping Chase study for his science test tomorrow, and she said he didn't seem to know much of the material. She asked him what he was doing when the teacher was talking about science, and he said maybe playing with his pencils. Nanaw and Mama are going to try to teach Chase how to take notes about the what the teacher is saying about science and other subjects. Nanaw asked Mama if she thinks Chase has attention deficit disorder, and Mama doesn't think so. She says he can pay attention if it's something he's interested in. Nanaw will see if she can help Chase learn how to concentrate on what his teachers are trying to teach him.

Sunday, September 13, 2020

On Sunday morning, Nanaw got a notification from Amazon that the Dog Man: Grime and Punishment book had been delivered, a day early. They sent the first picture below. Nanaw texted Mama to ask her to tell Chase the book had arrived. Nanaw found the keys to the little house in the bag with her power things m-- Nanaw is very happy to found the keys. It was Grandparents Day today so Mama made pot roast for dinner and invited Nanaw. Chase made Nanaw a card -- it was very sweet and cute. Nanaw gave Chase the Dog Man book, and he was very excited about it. He ate lots of pot roast, potatoes and carrots and so did Nanaw. It was delicious. After dinner, Chase and Nanaw went out to Nanaw's car so she could have him test out the new hand sanitizer with a hand pump and to get the walk-talkies so they could test them out. Chase liked the sanitizer pump and said it smelled like what they had at church. (It turns out that Chase and Daddy went to church today; Mama said Chase was excited about getting to take communion.) Today was Sam's 10th birthday, and Nanaw suggested that as a birthday treat, they take him for a bonus walk, so that's what they did, and they got Chase to accompany them. Nanaw forgot to take any pictures of Chase so she asked Mama to take one. She sent one that is the second picture below. Chase also asked Mama to give Nanaw an apology for his mean comment about wishing there was no Grandparents Day so he didn't have to go outside with Nanaw to the recycling bin with th box from the Dog Man book. Nanw left without kissing Chase good-bye for saying that mean thing,  But when Mama texted, Nanaw texted back that she accepted Chase's apology and loves him very much.

Mama brought Chase over to Nanaw's house on Saturday morning while she went to Schnuck's to do her weekly grocery shopping. Chase and Nanaw read a chapter in the Uncle Clem book. Chase brought his stuffed animals along so they joined in the reading session, along with Nanaw's hedgehogs, Fluffy Junior and the two pups. Chase had chocolate milk and applesauce as snacks. After their reading session, Chase and Nanaw went to play on their computers. Chase was all excited because the Roblox Piggy game was going to have an update in a few days. Then Nanaw remembered that a new Dog Man book was scheduled to come out in September. So Nanaw looked it u p on Amazon and saw that it was released on September 1. Nanaw told Chase she would ask Mama if it would okay if she bought Dog Man: Grime and Punishment for Chase. When Mama came to pick Chase up, Nanaw asked her, and Mama said yes so Nanaw ordered it.  Mama was making mostacciolli for dinner with Aunt Becca and Uncle Stan on Saturday evening. She got Nanaw's updated, real recipe with all of Nanaw's secrets. After dinner, she texted Mama that the mostacciolli was a great success and almost as good as Nanaw's. Aunt Becca made a cherry limeade frozen drink for Chase, and he really liked it. Mama ordered a Magic Bullet baby blender from Amazon so she can make frozen drinks for her and Chase and shakes for Daddy. The Magic Bullet is supposed to arrive Monday.

Chase wore his skeleton jammies last night and when he came to Nanaw's house on Friday morning, she took pictures of him. Nanaw loves his skeleton jammies. Every year Mama buys a pair for him in a larger size so he always have skeleton jammies. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he ran towards her, holding papers in both hands. One of the papers was a Grandparents Day poem he filled out for her. Nanaw was very happy to get it. She loves her little grandson lots. Chase wanted to go to the park to play with Brady, but Nanaw said they were going home. At home, they piled Chase's stuffed animals on the couch and read the Uncle Clem book. In the evening, Daddy took Chase to the Legion park and they practiced pitching, batting and fielding. Chase had a great time doing it. The first picture below is of the Halloween shirts Nanaw bought for Mama and Uncle Mike. She has a tradition of buying Halloween shirts for them each year. Maybe Nanaw should start buying a Halloween shirt each year for Chase and start a new tradition there.

Thursday, September 10, 2020

When Chase got dressed on Thursday morning, Nanaw put antibiotic cream on his many chigger bites -- poor baby. On the way to school, Chase decided he didn't want to wear his Minecraft mask to school; he wanted Nanaw to put it on Creeper. At home, Nanaw put the mask on Tee Tee and Creeper. (Chase later told Nanaw that wasn't what he'd asked her to do. So he's going to wear the Minecraft mask tomorrow. After school, when Nanaw picked Chase up, he begged to go to the park with Brady, even thought he didn't get 100% on one of his reading tests. Chase had a good time at the park with Brady, Andrew, Emma and Danica. Nanaw took picture of them and sent them to Mama. But when it was time to go, Chase didn't want to leave, and so he acted up. When Nanaw talked to Mama on the phone, she told Mama what happened. Mama said she would have a talk with Chase. When Chase and Nanaw got home, they read a chapter in the Uncle Clem book. Then they did a couple of reading comprehension exercises in the Bridge book. Finally, Nanaw let Chase play Roblox on the laptop. The first picture below is Sidney Crosby the Cat squeezing himself into a too-small box. The second picture is Creeper and Tee Tee wearing the Minecraft mask.

Wednesday, September 9, 2020

When Chase came to Nanaw's house on Wednesday morning, Nanaw told him that when he gets 100% on his reading comprehension test, they can go to the little library park to play with Brady and Andrew. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, she asked him if he remembered his reading book, and he said yes. Nanaw told him that if he had forgotten the book, she would have had him go back into his schoolroom and get the book. Chase said Ms. Kennedy would have already shut the door. Back at Nanaw's house, Chase and Nanaw started reading the book about Uncle Clem. They read the first chapter, and Chase paid attention, which made Nanaw very happy. Then they did one of the reading comprehension exercises in the Bridge book. Then they went outside and played baseball. Chase was excited to see two boys  from his baseball team: Sam and Ethan. They were riding their bikes around Nanaw's neighborhood, then they went into the house on the circle that Mama looked at. He couldn't wait to tell Daddy about seeing them. He was going to see them again at baseball practice in an hour or so.

Tuesday, September 8, 2020

Daddy had the day off on Tuesday so he took Chase to school. Nanaw missed seeing Chase in the morning so she was happy when it was time to pick Chase up from school. Nanaw saw Cole's Mama while she was waiting for Chase, and they had a nice conversation. Nanaw misses talking with the other people there to pick up students. With the masks and social distancing, it's hard to talk with people. When Chase came out of school, he ran toward Nanaw waving a paper. It was his spelling test; he was excited to have gotten a 3, which means he got all the words right. He asked if they could go to the park to see Brady, but Nanaw said she wasn't sure. They asked Mama, and Mama said it was pretty hot for Nanaw and that they shouldn't go. Chase wasn't very happy about that but eventually he was happy again when he played on the laptop. He had a ham and provolone sandwich as a snack. Nanaw had Chase to a reading comprehension page in one of his Bridge books; she's going to do that every day (if she remembers). They also practiced Spanish colors and played baseball with the stuffed animals for awhile. The first picture below is of the ICS masks Mama bought for Chase and her.
