On Saturday morning, Nanaw didn't go over to Chase's house to visit him because he and Mama and Daddy were coming out to the little house in the afternoon. They got there about 1 o'clock. They had stopped at Taco Bell and brought Nanaw a crunch wrap supreme. Chase had a cheese quesadilla and said he really liked it although he didn't eat all of it. Chase spent a lot of time outside at the little house, breaking lots of sticks against the trees. He went fishing with Daddy; they didn't catch any fish but Daddy got a bite. In the afternoon, they went for a ride to Warrenton to see where the new Schnuck's is going to be. They also drove to the outlet mall that now only has three stores; it used to have 40 or 50. Then they went to Washington for KFC (or Kentucky Fried Chicken, as Nanaw calls it.) In the evening, they went for a walk to the little lake. Then they went down to the big lake for the fireworks demonstration. It was absolutely magnificent and very long. They actually left before it was over. Chase had a really good time at his little house adventure.

On Friday morning, Nanaw tried to convince Chase that they should go to the Magic House but Chase kept saying no, that he wanted to stay home. So Chase and Nanaw invented a game: Dinosaur Park featuring Chase's dinosaurs and his ROBLOX figures. They set it all up on the dining room table, and Nanaw took a picture to send to Mama. Nanaw kept encouraging Chase to think about going to the Magic House, and he kept saying no. In the evening, Chase had a great adventure: His good friend Jackson came to visit. All afternoon, Chase kept asking if it was time to go home yet. He couldn't wait to see Jackson. When Jackson got there, the two boys immediately went out to the trampoline to jump on it. They played there for a long time, until the Pizza Hut pizza came. Mama also ordered bread sticks. After dinner, the boys played with the water balloons Mama filled up. Then Aunt Jen used a special water balloon toy to create more balloons for them to throw at each other.
They both got soaked. Next, they had sprinklers and snakes and pops -- good times! Later they had ice cream --bomb pops and ice cream sandwiches. It was a wonderful evening, and everybody had a good time.

On Thursday, Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart first thing to get an oil change and do grocery shopping. Chase got more presents: another ROBLOX figure, a Batman Hot Wheels car, a bag of Jolly Ranchers and a bag of red, white and blue marshmallows. They had fun, and Chase was very good except for saying he wanted to do what he wanted to do. He fell asleep on the way home, probably from being up late last night and from all his running around last night on the baseball field. I told Mama, and she and Nanaw laughed, saying they did too. Chase and Nanaw played in his room and watched Chase TV. He had another mini pizza for lunch with extra pepperoni and mozzarella. They had school at the dining room table (Nanaw thinks this might be the best place to do it from now on). Chase read one of the Biscuit stories, did addition flash cards and did pages in four of his workbooks. That was probably the most school they've done since summer vacation started. Nanaw had him take a nap after they were finished with school. In the evening, Chase went to hockey practice and invited Nanaw to go along so she did. He kept falling on the ice again but he seems to be getting the hang of skating a little better and is happier about playing real ice hockey.

Mama told Nanaw that on Wednesday, Mama, Daddy and Chase went to Jefferson County to buy fireworks to take to Uncle Chris's party on July 14. They also bought some sparklers for the fireworks display in the evening but never used them. Nanaw went over to Chase's house for dinner: chicken shishkabobs and corn on the cob. She also had an ice cream bar and a piece of brownie cake. Chase and Nanaw read some books, played some ROBLOX and played some hockey until it was time to go to the fireworks display at the Legion park. They met Brady and his family there and all sat together. Emma was wearing headphones so she wasn't scared by the loud bangs. Chase and Brady played with other boys and girls on one of the baseball fields until it was time for the fireworks to start. Then they came up the hill and sat on the piggy quilt Nanaw brought along. The fireworks display was absolutely awesome, and everybody had a very good time. Today would have been Rocky's 55th birthday. RIP, little one. Chase and Nanaw had a fun day, doing a lot of playing and shopping. They played ROBLOX for awhile on Nanaw's iPad and iPhone, then they went to telegraph Road Walmart. Nanaw had a Walmart gift card that she used to buy presents for Chase. He got three ROBLOX figures, a PacMan Mashem and a tiny gumball machine. They stopped at the library to return books, then went home to play some more. In the afternoon, Chase and Nanaw went to Chase's house to let Sam out. Then they went to Waterloo Walmart to get big planter containers. They also got some red, white and blue sprinkles for Mama to use on the 4th of July dessert she's going to make for Uncle Chris's party. Nanaw also used the rest of the gift card to buy a Jurassic World game for Chase. When they got home, Chase and Nanaw played the Jurassic World game and had lots of fun. Nanaw took it to Chase's house when he went home so that Mama could play it with him. Nanaw said maybe they'd play it tomorrow evening. Mama said maybe Jackson would like to play the game on Friday evening when he and his parents visit.

Chase and Nanaw had a fun day on Monday, mostly at home. They played a lot in Chase's room. Chase had the first of his deep dish mini pizzas, and he said he really liked it. Nanaw had him put extra pepperoni and mozzarella on it so there was more protein. At noon, Chase and Nanaw went to Dollar Tree for more dice, and Chase found some exciting Star Wars toys. Nanaw said they would go back to Dollar Tree after Taylor's vet appointment and get more Star Wars toys. Next, they went to the vet for Taylor's check-up, and Chase was very cute with Taylor at the vet with Taylor, petting her, talking to her, and trying to reassure her as she hid behind a chair. Chase tried to crawl in the pet taxi, and Nanaw took a picture of him to send to Mama. After the vet, they bought five more Star Wars toys at Dollar Tree, and then went to Ace Hardware to buy Spic n Span. Chase went out to dinner with Mama and Daddy and Mama's friend Theresa in Millstadt. Mama sent Nanaw two pictures that Uncle Mike sent from Gulf Shores. He's having a great time and doesn't want to come home.

When Nanaw went over to Chase's house on Sunday, everybody was outside. Mama and Daddy said they'd been outside playing with Chase since about 12:30. They played with the baseball slip and slide, did water balloons, played baseball, jumped on the trampoline and lots of other things. Chase and Nanaw played baseball for a few minutes, then everyone went inside for dinner -- Italian sausage, hot dogs and salad. After dinner, Chase and Nanaw played school for awhile but it didn't really go well. Nanaw managed to get him to read one of the Biscuit stories in the library book and do one of the workbook pages. But he was being silly and uncooperative so Nanaw said she would go home. Chase wasn't happy about that. Nanaw stayed for a few more minutes, sitting with Mama and trying to find things in the I Spy book from the library. Mama bought it from Amazon because she was so obsessed with it. Later, Mama, Daddy and Chase went to the Snow Cone stand on Main Street. Mama said they also have ice cream; if Nanaw had known that, she would have gone with them but she wasn't very interested in a snow cone.
