Mama had the day off on Tuesday, and she took Chase and Nanaw on a shopping adventure. Mama wanted to get started on her Christmas shopping and to get some ideas about what presents Chase would like for his birthday and from Santa. First, they went to Bed, Bath & Beyond. Next, they went to Five Below where Nanaw bought Mama a crock pot cookbook for Christmas and a writing nudges book for herself. Next, they went to Toys R Us. Chase immediately wanted to play on the Thomas Table (he kept calling it the track). Mama looked around and found the Thomas Table, and Chase played there for awhile. Chase saw a Star Wars storm trooper toy that he really wanted, and Mama said she would check it out to see if it was age-appropriate for him. Mama bought him a little Darth Vader figure wearing a cape and holding a Death Star. Chase was very excited about it. Walmart was their next destination. As usual, Chase wanted to see Santa and the Christmas trees. He's now added the roller coaster toy and Yoda to his list of things to look at. Their final adventure of the day was lunch at the McDonald's on Telegraph Road for more Charlie Brown toys. It's one of the McDonald's that still has a play areas. Chase has never been in one of the McDonald's play areas, and he had a grand time -- there were four little boys playing there and they all had a great time together.

Chase was excited to go to school -- he won't be so happy when he finds out that Monday is the only day this week that he's going to school -- he's off on Wednesday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. When he came out of school, he had a rock in his hand, and he told Nanaw that it was his stone. Nanaw didn't understand what that was all about until she read his newsletter (his "portant paper" that was in his folder.) In school, the children did a gratitude session and used the stone as their gratitude stone and talked about what they're thankful for. Nanaw asked Chase what he was thankful for, and Chase said, "My Tee Tee." Chase and Nanaw went to the Dollar Tree because today was a toy day. Chase got a mini skateboard, a new Army guy and three little cars. Then Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart to get supplies for Thanksgiving dinner. Chase wanted to see the mechanical Santa and the Christmas trees so that's where they went first. Tragically, mechanical Santa is broken and no longer sings -- Chase was very sad. In the evening, Mama and Daddy came to pick up Chase rather than Nanaw taking him home -- they were going to dinner with Aunt Betty in O'Fallon, Illinois.

Nanaw went to visit Chase on Sunday evening, and Mama invited her to stay for dinner -- chicken Teriyaki. Chase had Papa Murphy's pizza, and he ate it all down. Chase and Nanaw played in Chase's room for a little while, then they went to listen to Mama read one of Chase's new books, "Llama, Llama and the Holiday Drama." Chase gets Scholastic order forms from school, and Mama buys lots of books for him. The school gets books based on everyone's orders so Mama tries to be generous. Chase was playing with the Doodle app on Nanaw's iPad while Mama was reading the book twice -- Chase is multitasking already. Chase eventually went over to sit with Daddy and play with his iPad Mini. Daddy plays a game called "Clash of Clans," and Chase likes to play it, too. Sometimes he really messes up what Daddy's doing but Daddy is very kind about it.

Nanaw was excited to find the food donation bag from the Boy Scouts in the leaves by the porch. She thought she wasn't going to be able to do a food donation but when she went out to sweep leaves off the porch on Friday afternoon, she found the bag and filled it with food for pickup on Saturday morning. On Saturday evening, Mama had a 50th birthday party for Uncle Mike. Chase was very excited because his best friend Jackson came to the party. So did little Will, Auntie Lala's 10-year-old that Chase loves to play with. Baby Jackson was also there (Aunt Kristen and Uncle Chappie's 8-month old baby boy). Daddy put together the Einstein play pen for Jackson to bounce in. Chase also got in it a couple of times and said he was a "pretend baby." It was very cute to watch Chase playing with little Will and Jackson -- they played with Chase's remote control Corvettes and also played Minecraft on the Xbox. Nichole baked Uncle Mike a really cute 50th birthday cake, and Chase ate two pieces of it -- evidently that boy likes his cake.

Happy 50th Birthday, Uncle Mike! When Chase got home from school Friday morning, he and Nanaw baked Uncle Mike's German chocolate birthday cake. Chase helped Nanaw break the eggs into the mixing bowl -- it was very cute. Then he had a delightful time licking the big beater that goes with the Kitchen Aide mixer. Chase stayed at Nanaw's house until everyone came for Uncle Mike's mostacciolli birthday dinner. Everybody was there -- all of Chase's cousins. Uncle Mike's German Shepherd puppy Cheyenne also came to dinner, and Chase had a wonderful time running around the house with Cheyenne. Chase had fun delivering Uncle Mike's birthday presents to him and helping him unwrap the presents. Chase ate a whole piece of birthday cake and two scoops of rocky road ice cream.

Chase and Nanaw had an especially busy day on Thursday. First, Chase went to Story Time with Miss Candy at the Columbia Library. Poppy from his pre-school class was there today, and she brought a toy pet taxi with a stuffed puppy in it. Chase decided he wants one, so we'll have to put that on his birthday or Christmas list. ONe of the books Miss Candy read was Owl Babies, one of Chase's favorite books. A long time ago, Nanaw checked Owl Babies out of the Columbia library for Chase, and he loved it so much that Mama bought it for him. The craft at Story Time was making an owl using white paint and a scrubber -- Miss Candy always has the best crafts. After Story Time, Chase and Nanaw went to the bank and then to Dollar Tree, where Chase got Sally Carerra (one of the cars in Cars), a red light saber and a vest that Chase thinks has something to do with Darth Vader. Next, Chase and Nanaw went to the Train House, much to Miss Linda's delight. Chase made a craft that involved lots of cotton balls glued to a blue felt train, decorated with blue chalk and sing several tongue depressors. Chase and Nanaw's last stop was Walmart, where Chase was happy to see the singing Santa Claus and the lit-up Christmas trees.
