Chase's first adventure on Tuesday was going to the History Museum for Story Time. Of course, once again, he didn't want to go to Story Time. He played with the red bricks on the Wainwright Building and with the cars and buildings on the play table. Then Chase and Nanaw walked around to explore the museum. They went into the World's Fair display, and Chase seemed to like the plaster ornamentation and the grandfather clock. He refused to go into the room that had a huge carriage and figures with 1900's clothes. When Chase and Nanaw got home, he played on abcmouse -- he really likes doing that. Nanaw put him down for an early nap so he could go to Lego Time at the Columbia Library. But when he got up from his nap, he was really cranky. Nanaw drove to the library bur he refused to in to Lego Time. They went back home, and Chase played abcmouse again. This time he got rid of one of his hamsters so he could get another one. He also changed two of the hamsters' name -- what a character Mr. Chase is.

Chase didn’t go to school Monday. When Mama brought Chase to Nanaw’s house Monday morning, he didn’t want to do anything but lay on the sofa. After Mama left for work, Nanaw tried to get Chase dressed for school and feed him his breakfast but all he wanted to do was sleep. So Nanaw called Mama to tell her that Chase wasn’t going to school. Nanaw asked her to call the school to let them know Chase wouldn’t be there. Nanaw put Chase into bed, and he slept for about an hour. When he woke up, he seemed to be feeling much better. He ate his breakfast, and then wanted to play abcmouse. He bought a white seahorse and got another hamster. He told Nanaw that the hamster’s name was DeRusso so Nanaw typed in the name. Nanaw doesn’t know where he got that name. He loves abcmouse and that’s a good thing – it’s very educational.

Nanaw went to Chase’s house on Sunday evening to visit Chase and to have dinner – delicious hamburger patties grilled by Daddy and corn on the cob. Chase and Mama were very excited because earlier in the day, Chase had enough tickets to buy the Dalmatian – he named him Pongo, after the puppy in the movie the 101 Dalmatians. Nanaw brought along Chase’s huge stuffed Pongo for him to play with. When Nanaw got there with Pongo, Chase took Nanaw and Pongo into his room to play. They all had to get on the bed and jump around. After dinner, Chase played with abcmouse and Mama, Daddy and Nanaw watched him. Somehow he’s already on Level 3 – we think he managed to skip Level 2 – what a mystery. Daddy went to Dairy Queen to get ice cream but Nanaw said no thank you – she had to get home to watch Madam Secretary.

Chase still wasn't feeling well on Saturday morning when Nanaw came to visit. He was eating tiny powdered sugar donuts that Mama bought for him at the grocery store and seemed to really enjoy them. Mama said he hadn't been eating much the past few days so she was happy he was eating the donuts. Daddy told Nanaw a story about how he and Chase had been playing abcmouse and Daddy stepped away for a moment, and Chase spent a couple hundred tickets, and Daddy had no idea what he bought. The boy cannot be trusted not to spend his tickets! After he finished eating breakfast, Chase went to lie down on the sofa with Daddy's laptop so he could play abcmouse. Mama and Nanaw went shopping at Gravois Bluffs, and when they got back home, Chase was back on the sofa, playing with abcmouse. Daddy said he and Chase went outside to play (the weather is really warm -- 76 degrees) but that Chase wanted to come back in the house -- something he never does so you can tell he doesn't feel well.

Chase wasn't feeling well on Friday morning, saying his ear hurt. Nanaw gave him some Tylenol, and he said he was feeling better. Nanaw called Mama to see if she should keep him from school, and Mama said to ask Chase if he wanted to go to school. Nanaw asked him, and he said yes so he went to school. Nanaw told Ms Merz that he had an earache and was taking amoxicillin and that if he got worse, to call and Nanaw would come pick him up. He must have been all right because no one called to come get him. Nanaw had originally panned for them to go to the Train House but decided it would be better for Chase to stay at home. After lunch, Chase played abcmouse and once again he spent a lot of tickets -- Nanaw thinks he bought another hamster. Nanaw will be so happy for Chase when he feels better and his ear infection is cleared up. When Nanaw took Chase home, he got an R2D2 pillow and a Thomas pillow and several stuffed animals (a fish, Jack the ghost and a puppy) and climbed into the chair with Daddy, giving Daddy one of the pillows -- it was tres cute.

Chase and Nanaw's first adventure on Thursday was an early morning visit to one of Chase's favorite places: Powder Valley. Chase was delighted to be there and did his usual exploring. Chase and Nanaw built birdhouses, watched the fish in the aquarium, watched the squirrels and chickadees eating seeds. Chase had Nanaw draw pictures (ha, ha) of big fish and tiny fish on copies of the Conservation Department newsletters. After Powder Valley, Chase and Nanaw went to Story Time with Miss Candy at the Columbia Library. Chase was really good -- he listened to both books Miss Candy read, and he sat on Nanaw's lap, which Nanaw liked. The craft was making a little Inuit child -- they used to be called Eskimos. After Story Time, Chase and Nanaw came home for lunch and for Chase to play with Play Dough. Then Chase played on abcmouse. He had 391 tickets, almost enough to buy the 400 ticket Dalmatian. But the next time Nanaw looked, he was down to 191 tickets -- he spent 200 tickets on something. Nanaw asked on the abcmouse Facebook page if there's any way to unspend tickets and how you find out what tickets were spent on. It turns out he bought a calico kitten -- very funny.

Wednesday was chase's turn to take treats for his pre-school class. Mama selected little graham crackers with Star Wars characters faces on them. She tested Chase on who the characters were, and he knew all of them. Brady gave Nanaw a big hug when she went to pick up Chase. Chase ran out of the school building with a huge smile on his face and his arms outstretched to give Nanaw a hug, and Brady intercepted Chase to give him a hug. It was a perfect interception and very funny. Nanaw did finally get her hug from Chase. Chase wanted to go to Waterloo Walmart to get Sally Carerra, and Nanaw agreed. She had planned to do it on Thursday but decided that was an arbitrary decision based on her own convenience, and there was no reason they couldn't go on Wednesday and make Chase exceedingly happy. Nanaw was planning on taking Chase to Powder Valley but Chase said he wanted to go to Nanaw's house instead so they did. He played with Sally in the sink for a long while, then played on abcmouse on Nanaw's laptop. He loves it when abcmouse says, "Welcome back, Chase!" He's getting close to having 400 tickets to get the Dalmatian that he's going to name Pongo. Mama picked Chase up at 5:15 so they could go to Highland for a visitation for Aunt Jen's aunt. Jackson was going to be there too so hopefully the boys got to play with each other.
