Rockbridge Weekend: Friday, November 7 to Sunday, November 9, 2014

Chase had his major Rockbridge weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. He went on the trout fishing adventure with Daddy, Mama, Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky and Nanaw. On the drive to Rockbridge, they stopped Missouri S & T in Rolla to visit cousin Robbie and take him to breakfast at BreadCo. First, they went to see his room in the dorm. Chase watched videos on the trip to Rockbridge and seemed to enjoy the ride. Chase, Mama and Nanaw went for lots of walks on the weekend. On Sunday, Daddy joined them for the major hike in the woods. The most important activity at Rockbridge is eating at the restaurant, and Chase participated enthusiastically. At various meals, he had grilled cheese, mac and cheese, lots of fry-fries, mashed potatoes, teddy bear pancakes and lots of "memomade" (as he calls lemonade). On Saturday afternoon, Daddy showed Chase how to hold the fishing rod and cast it into the water. He promised Chase that he’d get to fish more next year with his own fishing rod. Also on Saturday afternoon, everybody but Nanaw put their chairs in a line on the porch to make a train for Chase while Nanaw took of picture of the train. Chase met a little girl named Jenna whose grandmother owns Rockbridge, and Chase and Jenna played together. On Saturday night, Uncle Mike and Daddy built a fire in the fire-pit and everyone sat around and enjoyed the fire, except for Chase. He recruited various people to run around with him playing "Zoom." Chase was delighted with a friendly gray kitty that hung around the lodge and let Chase pet him. There were also six or more baby kitties that Nanaw wanted to take home – she took a picture of them posing on the gnarled tree – very cute. They went home by way of Springfield so they could visit cousin Kristie at Missouri State University.
