Nanaw looked up what was for lunch for Chase on Thursday; it was toasted beef ravioli. Chase didn't think he'd ever had that but when Nanaw told Mama about it, she said he'd had ravioli before. In his classroom, Mrs. Neff asked him if he wanted beef ravioli for lunch, and he said yes. Nanaw told Mrs. Neff that he'd said he hadn't had it before but that he'd try it. Mrs. Neff said that was a great attitude. When Nanaw picked Chase up, she asked about lunch, and he said the ravioli was good. Success! He brought home his Field Day shirt for him to wear tomorrow, and it's very cute -- it's tie-dyed and very colorful. He also brought home his copy of the school yearbook and was distressed to see his picture under kindergarten. Nanaw explained that it was from last year. After school, Chase and Nanaw went to Dollar Tree. Nanaw took a picture of the wall of Halloween decorations and sent it to Mama, telling her she had to come see all the wonderful things they have. They bought the most stuff ever -- $24.66 worth. They bought pumpkins to decorate, an erasable slate, pretend fruit and vegetables for Chase's kitchen, cooking pans and utensils for Chase's kitchen, Barf, a US map and pointer, tiny pumpkin paddle balls, pencil sharpeners, a Bingo game, a bag of candy, an extra gumball machine and bubble gum -- plus other things Nanaw can't remember. They also bought two presents for Mama; Chase picked out Halloween stickers for her, and Nanaw picked out skeleton hands that are salad servers or tongs. Uncle Mike came to cut the grass, and Chase was happy to see him. When they got home from Dollar Tree, Chase and Nanaw went downstairs to play school. Chase had Nanaw hang the US map up on the wall in the schoolroom, and he used the pointer to find places like Tennessee for his visit there, Florida for his vacation there, Missouri, Illinois, and Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgh Penguins. In the evening, Mama, Daddy and Chase were going to CostCo to buy supplies for their party on Sunday; then they were going out for dinner. The first picture below is one from five years ago that Mama just posted again on Facebook.
