Chase and Nanaw’s first adventure of the day was a shopping trip to Walmart in the rain. Chase seemed fascinated with Nanaw’s umbrella and kept trying to grab it – unsuccessfully. Chase’s next adventure was Laptime at Telegraph Road library, with even more rain. The toys and books that Nanaw brought along successfully entertained Chase during the story and song part of Laptime. Chase’s friend Derek was back and spent the whole time kicking a ball against the wall. His grandmother says that’s his version of soccer, which he loves – they’ve signed him up for a pee-wee soccer league, and he’s only 20 months old. Chase’s other regular friend Nolan was there also. Chase trailed after one or the other of the boys and seemed to enjoy being around them. Then Nanaw made a strategic error by putting Chase at the table with the crayons and papers to color. Chase dug right into the box of colors and began taking them out. He did a little coloring also and definitely seemed to enjoy the whole coloring experience, until Nanaw tried to pick him up to go home. Chase threw a fit, crying loudly and turning very red. But he calmed down as soon as he left the Laptime room. The rest of the day Chase played in his room and downstairs in the Pack n Play and was a perfect little angel.
