Chase’s class had a substitute on Tuesday. Nanaw knew right away that Mrs. Neff wasn’t there because all of the lights in the classroom were on; Mrs. Neff usually has the class very dimly lit. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he told Nanaw the substitute’s name was Mrs. Wright. Then he said, "It’s spelled Wright, not Right." Very cute. Chase told Nanaw all about the visitors from Germany that came to their school. He said in addition to the adults there were two boys and two girls. He said they spoke English, "Just like we do." On the ride home, Chase started talking about his Very Hungry Caterpillar book in German. Then he started about his 16 brothers who live in Pittsburgh and who are going to Japan. What an imagination he has! When they got home, Nanaw looked up a Japanese version of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Chase liked looking at all the Japanese words and letters.
