Wednesday morning Nanaw asked Chase if he was okay with country-fried steak for lunch today. Once upon a time, he wouldn't try it and always took his lunch to school on the days they were serving country-fried steak. Finally, at the end of the school year, he tried it and liked it. So he told Nanaw he was okay with it. When Nanaw picked him up in the afternoon, she asked about it, and he said it was really good. Then he told her that they also served a piece of bread and mashed potatoes. He said he put the mashed potatoes on the bread and folded it and ate it like a sandwich and that it was good. Nanaw laughed and told him how Uncle Mike used to do the same thing with scrambled eggs and toast all the time. Chase has a boatload of studying for tests and assignments in the next few days so when they got to Nanaw's house they started studying right away. Chase worked on his history assignment and then his geography assignment. Nanaw went through his Outsiders papers and his English papers for sentence structure to make sure he had the correct material to study for the tests on Friday. They'll study for those two tests tomorrow afternoon and then Chase will study with Mama tomorrow evening before and after hockey and then again with Nanaw on Friday morning.
