On Friday morning, Mama, Daddy, Chase, Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky and Nanaw left for their annual adventure at Rockbridge. Nanaw had a few hiccups. First, she had forgotten to get hairspray at the grocery store so Mama and Nanaw went to Walgreen's to get it. The first picture below is Chase wearing the Zero hat Mama bought for him at Walgreen's. Then, after they left for Rockbridge, Nanaw remembered that she may have forgotten the bag with her medications and vitamins in it back at the house. So Daddy turned around and went back to Nanaw's house. Mama went inside and found the bag in the kitchen. So all was well but Nanaw felt bad for causing the delay. All in all, they had a wonderful time To their surprise, when they got to their rooms, they discovered that the rooms now have TVs with cable and a DVD player. They also have a coffee maker and a hair dryer. Chase went fishing with Daddy three times and had lots of fun. Unfortunately, Chase didn't catch any fish although he did get a couple of bites. Daddy caught six fish; Aunt Becky caught nine; Uncle Mike caught three. Mama went fishing for the first time in a long while, waders and all, but she didn't catch any fish. The food was great, as always. Except for the cinnamon rolls -- they no longer cook them to Nanaw's desired crispness. Amazingly enough, Chase tried batter-fried trout and liked it. He also tried Daddy's over-easy eggs. He's a very adventurous little fellow. He played a game of checkers with Mama but lost. Mama bought him a stuffed llama and another stuffed baby fish. Nanaw bought him a stuffed hedgehog named Howie who's going to live at Nanaw's house. Mama bought Nanaw a stuffed turkey. Mama and Nanaw took lots of walks, with and without the dogs. Nanaw brought lots of disaster movies. Mama watched the one on Friday night all the way through. Uncle Mike watched the one on Saturday night. Nanaw spent a lot of time watching CNN to find out about the presidential election. They only had Little Deb as their waitress for Friday lunch and Sunday breakfast. They really like her and wish they'd had her more. Nanaw made reservations for next year -- November 5 to November 7. When they got home, Aunt Becky told them that her school, Guadeloupe was going to be closed for a week because of Covid. Aunt Becky doesn't think she was exposed but we'll have to wait and see.
