Yay!!! Nanaw's leg felt well enough that she could go to the zoo with Chase and Nanaw. It was an absolutely beautiful day for the zoo -- sunny but coolish -- just perfect weather. Chase, Mama and Nanaw visited almost all of their favorite places, except for the children's zoo. They rode all the way around the zoo on the train, much to Chase's delight. They visited the new penguin / puffin habitat -- which was very cold for the penguins and puffins. They went to see Mama's favorite animals -- the elephants. Chase particularly like the fish tanks (which had rhinos swimming around with the fish), and he wanted to visit them again. They visited the chimpanzees and the orangutans and thought maybe they saw their favorite -- Robert -- who had a head of lettuce in his mouth and carried a big stack of hay around with him. At the gift shop, Mama bought Chase a "special" -- which is what Chase calls a surprise present. Mama bought a small stuffed penguin and a bag of colored rocks. Nanaw decided that she and Chase would start a rock collection from the places they visit so she and Chase picked up a couple of rocks to start the collection, along with Chase s colored rocks. Nanaw bought some kettle corn, everybody's favorite, and they munched the kettle corn on the way home. Mama stopped at McDonald's and they ate the food at Nanaw's house. In the evening, Mama, Daddy and Chase went to Hooter's for dinner, and Mama said Chase had a grilled cheese sandwich, and he ate the whole thing.
