Chase was very excited on Wednesday because it was his half birthday. Chase decided that it was also Tee Tee’s half birthday. Chase’s plan was to go to Dollar Tree and buy half-birthday presents for him and Tee Tee. But first, they had school. The books Mama packed in the Thomas bag were Little Owls 1-2-3 and Owl Babies, one of Mama and Nanaw’s favorites. Mama sent along Bill the owl to go with the owl books. Chase and Nanaw had fun saying Bill’s line together: "I want my Mommy!" Yesterday, Mama sent along Spot to go with the Spot book. She tries to send stuffed "amamals" that are connected to the book. After school, Chase and Nanaw went to Dollar Tree to buy half-birthday presents. They bought two containers of Flarp, some little 4th of July hats for Tee Tee, and honey buns for a birthday cake. Chase wanted Nanaw to pick out a surprise present for him so she picked out a little derringer dart gun (shades of Uncle Mike when he was a little boy). When they got home, Chase had Nanaw wrap the presents. After Chase opened the presents, he had a honey bun for a birthday cake. Nanaw put six trick candles on the honey bun, and Chase had a great time trying to blow out the candles that wouldn’t go out. Nanaw finally dipped them in water to make they go out. After eating his honey bun, Chase then ate an ice cream bar. Chase did several funny/cute things: He spread the penguin blanket out on the living room floor and pretended it was a swimming pool for his "amamals." Then he spread the blanket in the garden tub in Pawpaw’s bathroom and said it was his new bed. For the first time in almost a year, he played with his Leapfrog tablet and had a great time with it. Nanaw shot a picture of Chase reading about Matt Carpenter in the sports page – very funny!
