Once again on Tuesday, Chase and Nanaw had school first thing. The two books that they read that Mama packed in the Thomas Bag were Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Nanaw is very pleased with how well Chase is doing with reading. The kindergarten teacher told everyone that boys and girls can lose two to three months of progress during the summer unless parents read with the child and practice writing, spelling and math. So that’s what Mama and Nanaw are doing with Chase. The adventure for Tuesday was a visit to Chase’s new favorite place: The Magic House. (His favorite place used to be the Train House.) At the Magic House, their first stop was the new display up on the second floor where the secret slide used to be. It’s a village in Kenya, Africa, and there are all kinds of interesting displays to investigate. There’s a safari car, and Chase had fun sitting in the driver’s seat and turning the steering wheel. There’s a market place, a school, a post office, a bank, and a villager’s house. They also visited the Tapescape slides, which Chase likes a lot. His favorite thing was going outside to the garden area and wading in the pond. On the way out, Chase wanted to go through the maze, and he successfully guided himself and Nanaw out the correct way – very impressive. On their way home, they stopped at Schnuck’s to buy ice cream bars for Chase, his new favorite.
