Chase was excited, as usual, to go to school. Nanaw asked him to give his family photo to Ms. Merz, and the little fellow remembered and did it well -- he's so cute. While Chase was at school, Nanaw dug up one of the little redbud trees from the front yard and planted it with Chase's redbud trees from Powder Valley because Chase's trees died. Nanaw's not going to tell him his trees died. When Nanaw picked him up from school, he seemed sad and had tears in his eyes. Nanaw asked if he was sad to leave school, and he said yes. When Nanaw asked about above the line and below the line, he said he was below the line today. Nanaw asked why, and he said, "I can't tell you," which probably means he doesn't know. Nanaw told him maybe he could tell Daddy in the evening why he was below the line. On the way from school to the little playground, Chase wanted to see the "pretty" trees -- the two trees by the school whose leaves are turning colors. Fortunately, there were several little boys and girls at the playground -- that made Chase happy. He played with one little boy named Vito and another little boy named Zane. When they left the playground, the battery light turned on on Nanaw's dashboard so she and Chase went to Dobb's in Waterloo and got a new battery. Chase was watching Finding Nemo when they got to Dobb's, and he said "You go in by yourself, and I'll stay out here and watch Nemo." Funny child!
