Chase and Nanaw had a great adventure on Thursday: early in the morning, they went out to the little house to turn on the water. Chase took along the little red laptop and the DVD player. He played abcmouse all the way out to Aspenhof, and watched his Cars video also. He was very happy to go to the little house -- he really likes it out there. When they got there, Chase played with the box of construction toys tat Robbie and Joey used to play with when they were little. Nanaw loves the idea of continuity with the grandkids. While Nanaw was working on getting the water turned on, Chase went outside and played with an old tree stump, digging in it and having a good time. Once the water was on, Chase and Nanaw had lunch. Then they went for a walk down to the end of the road. Nanaw let Chase use her walking stick that Pawpaw bought for her at Rockbridge. On the way home, they stopped at Walmart and then they went to the Goodwill store to see if they had any toys for Chase. Chase called it the Little Will store, getting it confused with Little Will, Aunt Alice's son, who's coming for a visit on Saturday night. Chase picked out a bag of dinosaurs and a little red car from the Little Will store and was very happy about it.

Chase was happy to go back to school after a week off. Brady gave Nanaw a big hug before school and after school. Chase gave Nanaw a big running hug when he got out of school. Unsolicited, he told Nanaw he had Rice Krispy's Treats for the snack today. After school, Chase and Nanaw went to the Train House for their Wednesday adventure. Miss Linda was very happy to see Chase and Nanaw. It was a quiet day at the Creation Station without many children. Chase had a great time playing on the train tables and in the kitchen. He also played musical instruments and sang with the other children. He played with the stuffed bunnies that Miss Linda had spread out on a quilt on the floor. He found paint splash Thomas for Nanaw, which made her very happy. Nanaw is thinking about buying paint splash Thomas from Amazon, even though he costs $27.00. Chase had his usual treat of popcorn but didn't get to explore the caboose because the doors were locked. When they got home from the Train House, Chase had lunch and played with abcmouse and with his school, house and farm on the kitchen counter. It was another wonderful day with the loving, cheerful Chase -- Nanaw hopes this keeps up forever.

Tuesday, March 29, 2016

Smart little Chase found another hidden Easter egg this morning, and bless his, he shared the candy with Nanaw. Tuesday's adventure was a visit to the Science Center -- Chase and Nanaw went early to avoid the spring break crowd. Nanaw brought pennies with her so Chase could put them in the swirling thing that he likes so much. This was the best visit ever to the Science Center. Chase had a wonderful time and was very well-behaved. Even when it was time to go, he didn't fuss very much. He played with his usual favorites: the cars on the bridge, the radar guns, the Mars Rover, the dinosaur dig, the sand area, the smoke column, and the table with the toy dinosaurs. He also tried new things: the air column that keeps a ball suspended, another air column that floats cloth up and out, and several energy displays. When Chase and Nanaw got home, he played with his new school and the house and the farm on the kitchen counter where Nanaw put them. After his nap, Chase and Nanaw went out in the front yard to kick the big red ball around. When Chase got home, Daddy was working on the new basketball hoop again, and Chase was excited to dunk the basketball in the hoop.

Chase had the day off from school. He had a doctor's appointment in the afternoon so he and Nanaw stayed home to play. Chase likes his new Leap Frog School and played with it for a long while. Nanaw brought out a house and a farm to put with the school so that Chase had a village -- he really liked that. He also played on abcmouse and then played with Lincoln Logs when he and Nanaw went downstairs. Chase's doctor's appointment was to have his ears checked again. His ear infection is gone but he still failed the hearing test. Dr. Charles wants to wait another month and have Chase take the hearing test again. If he fails it again, Dr. Charles will refer him to an ear, nose and throat doctor. Dr. Charles is hoping it will clear up on its own; he says if Chase goes to an ENT now, the doctor will most likely put tubes in his ears and that might not be necessary. When Nanaw took Chase home, Daddy was out in front putting together a new basketball hoop. So Chase went outside to help Daddy -- it's very cute when he does that.

Happy Easter! Sunday, March 27, 2016

Mama said Chase had a wonderful time at Aunt Becca's Easter celebration on Saturday afternoon. He played with his cousins and had great fun hunting for Easter eggs. On Sunday morning, Mama had an Easter egg hunt for Chase outside at his house. Then he had another Easter egg hunt at Nanaw's house on Sunday afternoon. Uncle Mike's and Aunt Becky's German Shepherd Cheyenne followed behind Chase while he hunted for eggs -- it was very cute. Chase got lots of candy and toys on all the Easter egg hunts. Nanaw also got him a Mac the Truck color changer and a Leap Frog School. Chase ate lots of candy at Nanaw's, especially red licorice, which seems to be his favorite. Five of Chase's seven cousins were at dinner, and Chase seems to think the more the merrier. Everybody seemed to enjoy the ham dinner with party potatoes, fruit salad, corn bread casserole, Caesar salad, and lots of desserts, including frosted brownies, an egg-shaped pound cake, and a whip cream topped cake with chocolate cookies.
