Chase had the day off from school, and Nanaw had a wonderful time with him. First thing in the morning, they went to Schnuck's to get Nanaw's newspaper and some food and treats for Chase. They bought him some vanilla Lactaid ice cream (which is absolutely delicious!), three bags of candy, and a nachos Lunchable. Later in the day, Chase had fruit salad and ice cream for snacks. Nanaw used $20 of her rewards money to buy the things so she didn't feel like she was spending real money. Chase spent a lot of time playing with Mark Andre on the Nova hockey thing. Chase did both of his math assignments, and Nanaw did the worksheet that was lost and that Chase got another copy of. He had all the right answers on the worksheet. Tomorrow Nanaw will do the assignment in the math book. Chase also wrote his compare and contrast essay on the Art Museum and the Sculpture Park. He did a really good job on the essay,  Nanaw proofread it but only added two commas and a semicolon. He did 20 minutes of AR reading and will do 40 minutes tomorrow on the ride to and from the Meramec Sharks hockey ride for Chase's hockey lesson. Daddy put Chase's huge, heavy hockey bag in the back of the Bronco Sport. Chase played on the upstairs and downstairs keyboards, and he took his guys downstairs for a visit and then brought Nanaw's guys upstairs.

Wednesday, April 24, 2024

So now for the mystery of the missing math paper. Yesterday, Mama got a notification from Chase's school's grade system that Chase was missing a math assignment from April 18, the 8-4B worksheet. Chase was positive that he did it and positive that he turned it in. On Tuesday afternoon, after Chase and Nanaw looked through all the papers in his backpack with no luck at finding the missing math worksheet, they wrote an email to Chase's math teacher. They explained the situation and asked the teacher if she had another copy of the math worksheet so Chase could do it again and turn it in. The teacher said of course and on Wednesday, she gave Chase another copy of the worksheet for him to do. Also on Wednesday, Chase looked through his desk and his locker but the worksheet wasn't there. Nanaw just looked through his backpack but couldn't find the worksheet the teacher gave him so she'll have him find it tomorrow. So there will be another report on the missing worksheet on Thursday. Chase had early dismissal today, and he played for a long while with his new Nova hockey thing. He and Mama have named the Nova goalie Mark Andre Fleury because of the French email. Mama says Fleury means flower in French. Chase is off from school on Thursday and Friday of this week and will be spending a lot of time playing with the Nova hockey thing. He has a hockey lesson on Friday at the ice rink where the Meramec Sharks play.

Tuesday, April 23, 2024

Chase has been very anxious for his Easter present Nova hockey thing to arrive and has been giving Nanaw instructions on what to do with it when it arrives. She's always supposed to bring it in the house from off the porch, to protect it from any rain. Sometimes he tells her to open it and other times not. It was scheduled to arrive Wednesday of this week but it arrived early this evening, Tuesday. On the way back from taking Chase home, Nanaw saw a UPS truck stopped in her subdivision, and she had the idea maybe it was delivering the Nova hockey thing. When she got home, she started checking her mail and saw that she had an email from Nova Hockey. But it was in French. Nanaw knows a little French from school but not enough to read the email so she had Google translate it, and it said the hockey thing had arrived. Nanaw called Daddy to see if it was all right to bring it over to their house, and he said yes. Daddy had Chase put it together himself with minimal help from Daddy -- a very interesting episode, but Chase did well. Chase took it upstairs to play with it in the kitchen, and Nanaw watched for a while before going home. Tomorrow, Nanaw will report on the mystery of the missing math worksheet.

Monday, April 22, 2024

Chase wanted to ride to school in the Bronco so that's vehicle they took. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, they gave Cole a ride home. His dad had surgery and was still in recovery so his mom asked Nanaw to give him a ride home. The boys sat in the back set playing on their phones, having fun and making a lot of noise. At Nanaw's house, Chase had his snack: Skinny Pop popcorn, Lactaid chocolate milk. A few blueberries, a couple strawberries, and some Mike & Ike candy. He read through his English notes for the test tomorrow. He said there really wasn't a way for Nanaw to ask questions or help him study. Nanaw read through the notes and learned lots she didn't know about the four types of conjunctions. Nanaw asked him to please read over the notes again this evening. Nanaw did the 16 problems of Chase's math. It's more of the problem finding the area of various polygons. Over the weekend , Chase learned how to do these kinds of problems. When Nanaw took Chase home, he told Daddy he would like to play Wiffle ball, and Daddy said they probably would. When Nanaw got home, she discovered that Chase had forgotten his phone so she took it to his house.

Sunday, April 21, 2024

Chase and Daddy went to church on Sunday morning. Mama, Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky and Nanaw went to the Cardinals' baseball, using the tickets the grandkids game them as a Christmas present. The tickets also included food and drinks. There was a giveaway of funny-looking FredBird hats. Chase and Daddy couldn't go because of Chase's baseball tournament. At 4 p.m., they went to Edwardsville for another one of Chase's baseball tournament games. The Cardinals lost the base ball game, and Chase's team lost their game. Daddy and Chase went over his science materials for the test on Monday. After Chase and Daddy got back from Edwardsville, Nanaw came over to visit Chase, and Mama got Jimmy John's for their dinner. She also bought a loaf of Jimmy John's bread for Chase that Chase was so happy about. He shared it with Nanaw, and it was delicious. After dinner, Chase and Nanaw went downstairs, and Nanaw watched Chase play knee hockey. Then Nanaw went home to watch her Sunday night TV shows.

Saturday, April 20, 2024

Mama went to the grocery store early on Saturday morning but she still brought Chase over to Nanaw's house at 9:30 a.m.. Chase had a boatload of homework to do. While Chase did his homework, Nanaw went to Sunset Ford to do all the paper work on the Bronco sport and bring it home. As for Chase's homework, the first thing he did was the persuasive essay about the field trip to the Basilica and the Saint Louis Art Museum. When he finished writing the four paragraphs, Nanaw proofread it for him. Next, he worked on the history study guide notes for the history test on Wednesday, April 24. After that, he checked on the shipping of the Nova hockey thing and found that it is expected to arrive Wednesday, April 24. He was sad that he still had to wait a long time for it to come. The final thing Nanaw and Chase did was to work on his math. Nanaw did three of the six problems but wasn't sure she got them right. And she wasn't sure about Chase's answers. In the evening, Nanaw went over to Chase's house and took pictures of the problems in the math book to see if she could figure out how to do them. Nanaw took Chase home at 3 p.m. so he could get ready for the baseball tournament game at 6 p.m. His team won the game 14 to 2. Mama said Chase grounded out a couple of times but made a great play at second base, and the other Chase hit a homerun. Mama said Chase's team is the number one seed in the gold bracket so they play at 4 tomorrow and if they win, they play at 6. So Chase and Daddy won't be able to go to the Cardinals' baseball game Sunday afternoon. It will just be Mama, Nanaw, Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky. Mama talked to Cole's mom about the science stuff Chase needs, and Tanya said she would send it tomorrow.

Friday, April 19, 2024

When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he told her that today was Papa John's Pizza Day at school and that the cheese pizza had been really good. Then he remembered that he had forgotten his history notebook with the study guide that is due Monday. So he said he had to go back in to school to get it. That's the first time he wanted to go back in school. On Saturday, he discovered that he'd forgotten his science stuff. He texted all of the guys in his crew, and Drew said he'd send the stuff but it hadn't arrived by Saturday evening. Chase has a rule that he doesn't do homework on Friday afternoons after school. Uncle Mike came over to cut the grass, and then to take Nanaw to Sunset Ford so she could buy a beautiful blue Bronco Sport. She has to wait until Saturday to get it because Sunset closes at 7 p.m. Mama had picked Chase up at 4:15 to get ready for the baseball tournament. His team won the game 14 to 1. After the game, some of the team and parents went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner. Chase had cheese curds, and he took a Lactaid before he ate them. He and his teammates played together after they'd finished eating, and Chase said he had a good time.

Thursday, April 18, 2024

Chase has been anxiously awaiting the present Nanaw bought him for Easter: a Nova hockey set. Nanaw doesn't think he has ever anticipated anything quite this much. It has a net, a goalie, hockey sticks, balls and pucks. They ordered it two weeks before Easter, thinking it would come in time but it didn't. Nanaw finally contacted customer service to check on it, and they said it would arrive in California on Tuesday of this week and would be shipped out Wednesday or Thursday. Chase thinks it's going to be delivered immediately, no matter what Nanaw says or how she tries to explain that shipping takes longer than a day or two. Chase emailed Nanaw today and texted her tonight, checking to see if it arrived. Nanaw promised to keep checking. After school, Chase studied his DLR for a quiz tomorrow, and then he and Nanaw studied for his vocabulary test tomorrow. He forgot to tell Daddy they had to study the vocabulary so Mama asked Nanaw to go over the words again with Chase in the morning. In the evening, Mama had gone to the hospital to visit Auntie LaLa.

Wednesday, April 17, 2024

Chase has been in the best mood for the last week or ten days, making Nanaw very happy. Nanaw can't talk to Mama about Chase's good mood because Mama will say that talking about it will jinx it. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school on Wednesday afternoon, it turned out that he had forgotten to bring his vocabulary book home so he can study for the quiz on Friday. He was really good about having to go back into school to get the book. He used to put up a huge fuss whenever he had to go back for something. When they got to Nanaw's house, Chase did some more problems from the math test, and he did a good job on them. After he was done with the math problems, he and Nanaw studied the vocabulary. He made quite a few mistakes on the pages where he had to answer questions and fill in spaces with the vocabulary words. So Nanaw was thinking that he would have problems with the definitions for the vocabulary words but he did better than Nanaw expected. Tomorrow afternoon they'll study the words the hard way where Nanaw gives him the word, and Chase gives her the definition.

Tuesday, April 16, 2024

Nanaw limited Chase's device use on Tuesday morning, including the car phone. But she said he could play with the car phone on the drive home from school this afternoon. After school, Chase didn't have any homework so he and Nanaw worked on the problems he missed on the math test. Nanaw had written  four problems for him to work on, each on a separate piece of paper so he could concentrate just on one problem. They had a long conversation about how to take a math test, how to check the problems, how to think about the way to solve the problems, to take his time and not rush through the test and to pay attention to what he's doing. The "pay attention" comment got his attention (LOL), and he told Nanaw that he's a Gen Z, and they have a short attention span. Nanaw Googled Gen Z and saw that they're born between 1995 and 2010 so Chase is not quite in that group because he was born in 2011, but he wants to be a Gen Z. In addition to the short attention span (Google says 8 seconds), they also are addicted to devices. Chase did well on three of the four problems. They'll work on more problems tomorrow.

Monday, April 15, 2024

On Monday morning, Mama brought along Chase's baseball uniform for tonight's practice, and reminded him to put in his contact lenses. Chase and Nanaw had a talk about math, with Nanaw saying it wasn't so much the grades that are important but the fact that grades show how much you've learned. Nanaw said it's important to learn the math and keep up with it. Math and English are the two most important subjects and are the ones you use most in your life. With math, if you fall behind in learning, it's hard to keep up and hard to learn new things. Nanaw will continue to reinforce those lessons, along with not rushing when taking math tests and trying to check your work when you have enough time. When Nanaw picked Chase up, he said he had a lot of homework but it turned out that he didn't have so much. He had science and religion; he'd already finished his math in class. After he was finished with the homework and the snacks (including Skinny Pop and a Sponge Bob popsicle, Chase put on his baseball uniform and put in his contact lenses. Then he played on the keyboard. When Daddy came to pick him up, Daddy said this was Chase's last Monday night baseball practice.

Sunday, April 14, 2024

After Chase and Daddy went to church on Sunday morning, the family had an adventure. They went to a Blues hockey game at Enterprise Center. It was their first  professional hockey game in a long time. The Blues were playing the Seattle Kraken. The Blues won, which make everybody happy. The best thing of all was that Chase got a stuffed bear -- courtesy of Build a Bear -- who gave the first 3,000 kids attending the hockey game a Bernie Federko bear. So Chase named his bear Bernie. When they got home, Mama got out her stuffed bear, Puck. That's his name because you can turn him inside out, and he becomes a puck. Nanaw  came over to visit and to help Chase with his history homework assignment of President Pennants. Chase did three pennants: George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Nanaw mostly glued things together for Chase, while he worked on the background, history and biography of the presidents. Chase finally got his math test back, the one he got a D on. Nanaw took it home and made a page of the 14 or 15 problems Chase missed that they'll work on.

Saturday, April 13, 2024

The guys at the sleepover had to get up at 6:45 a.m. because Drew had a baseball game at 8 a.m. Drew's mom fixed cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Chase had a hockey game at noon, and Mama said he got to make a penalty shot and did really well, although he didn't score. After the hockey game, Chase and Mama went to the Wacky Warriors event at Chase's school. Every other year, boy students and their moms do all kinds of wacky things in the gym at school. Some of the events included: balloon races with the balloons between their legs; a race of carrying ping pong balls on a teaspoon; using a parachute for all kinds of activities (Nanaw thinks Chase did that one when he was in kindergarten); and putting a cookie on their foreheads and trying to get it down into their mouths without having it fall off -- Chase did it successfully. They had one of Chase's favorites for a snack -- popcorn. Mama and Chase both said they had a great time. Nanaw came over to visit, and she and Chase were downstairs watching various sporting events. Chase was also hitting a balloon around with a hockey stick. Mama picked up dinner from Washy's, and Chase and Nanaw both had delicious mini tacos with sour cream and salsa -- very much like the tiny tacos at Jack-in-the-Box.

Friday, April 12, 2024

Friday was a very exciting day for Chase. The two sixth grade classes took a day-long field trip to two great St Louis landmarks. First, they visited the Cathedral of the Basilica. Chase gave Nanaw the following information about the cathedral when she interviewed him (with his permission because he doesn't like it when Nanaw asks him too many questions in what he calls (rapid fire). It cost several million dollars to build the cathedral in 1914. Today, it would cost a billion dollars. Chase said it was filled with mosaics and sculptures. They went to a sculpture part for lunch, and Chase had a sub sandwich, potato chips, a cookie, and a Sunkist fruit drink. In the afternoon, they went to the St. Louis Art Museum and got to see Stella's and Michael's artwork. Unfortunately, their art teacher wasn't able to give them a tour of the museum but someone else did. Chase said he had a really good time on the field trip. In the evening, he went to Drew's house with the other guys for a  sleepover in honor of Drew's birthday. The guys stayed up till about 1 a.m. Cole went home earlier so he could get enough sleep. They had Papa John's pizza, cheese bites, and garlic cheese breadsticks for dinner. Later, they had a Jello cake for Drew's birthday.

Thursday, April 11, 2024

When Mama brought Chase over to Nanaw's house on Thursday morning, she said he should be home by 5 for a baseball game. It turned out that the game was cancelled because the field was wet from the rain. So that meant Chase could go to 4 on 4 hockey practice. Chase didn't really want to go but Daddy said he had to. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he told Mama on the pick-up call who is in his field trip group tomorrow -- Brady, Hunter, Cole, and Cam. It was mostly the guys except for Cam. Unfortunately, the other member of the guys, Drew, was in a different group. Cam's mother and Mama will be their group's chaperones. One of the field trip stops will be the St. Louis Art Museum. Stella and Michael, two of Chase's classmates, won a contest and they will have their artwork in the museum. Chase's art teacher is going along on the field trip, and she's going to take the two sixth grade classes on a tour of the museum. Chase didn't have any homework that had to be done for tomorrow because of the field trip. His presidents' pennants assignment is due Monday, and so is his AR vocab assignment.

Wednesday, April 10, 2024

When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, she mentioned his math test. He asked if she knew his grade, and Nanaw said yes. Chase said he and Mama had talked about it, and they were waiting to get the graded paper back before deciding what to do about it. Nanaw said she didn't understand what happened because both Chase and Nanaw thought he'd done well on the test. Nanaw had taught Chase how to do equations for the problems, and he got all the problems right that he did studying for the test. So this is not understandable. Hopefully, they'll figure out what went wrong, and it won't happen again. After school, Chase did his homework, cutely singing while he worked on it. He had a history assignment about presidents. The assignment is called presidents' pennants, and he has to fill out worksheets about presidents. His other homework assignment was vocabulary on Where the Red Fern Grows. He thought he had completed it in class but he hadn't. So he finished it at Nanaw's house, again singing while he worked on the homework. It's been drizzling all day, and so Chase wasn't surprised when his baseball practice was cancelled.

Tuesday, April 9, 2024

The before-school time on Tuesday morning was the only time Nanaw got to see Chase on Tuesday. Daddy picked Chase up from school on Tuesday afternoon because Chase had an appointment at 3:30. After his appointment, Daddy took Chase to baseball practice. Mama was at Queen of Hearts at Sunset Overlook so she wasn't home to fix Chase and Daddy dinner when they got home from baseball practice. They had to come up with something on their own. Nanaw asked Mama to send her a picture of Chase and let her know about Chase's day. Mama sent a photo of Chase in his baseball uniform. She said he said school was good and so was baseball practice.

Monday, April 8, 2024

When Mama brought Chase over to Nanaw's house on Monday morning, she reminded him that he has baseball practice this afternoon. She told him to make sure he puts in his contacts and changes his clothes by 4:30 when she comes to pick him up. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school on Monday afternoon, he was excited about the solar eclipse. He said they got to go outside in the afternoon with their eclipse glasses and watch the eclipse. Nanaw had brought her glasses along, and Chase used them to see the last parts of the eclipse. Chase's friend Hunter and his parents drove to southern Missouri to see more of the totality of the eclipse, and they sent pictures to Mama. Mama sent them to Nanaw, and they're shown below. It was a very exciting happening. Chase did his IXL for math and his math homework assignment. There wasn't time for Nanaw to do the math so she's going to do it tonight. Chase did his AR quiz for the War Stories book and said he missed one question. He picked out another Gordon Korman book for AR, and Nanaw is going to get the book from the library. It's called Unplugged.  The last picture is a selfie Chase took for Nanaw.

Sunday, April 7, 2024

Chase got back from his weekend adventure with Hunter at about 2 p.m. on Sunday. Mama said he had a good time, and she gave a rundown of what he had to eat over the weekend. On Friday night, they had McDonald's; Chase had chicken nuggets. For breakfast on Saturday, they had the little chocolate-covered donuts. For lunch and dinner, they had grilled hot dogs and hamburgers. Mama didn't find out what they had for breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Mason brought his friend Lucas with him on the adventure. Mama sent Nanaw a picture of Hunter and Chase driving around on a four-wheeler; it looked like a lot of fun. Chase is having another sleepover over on Friday night at Drew's house for his birthday (which is Tuesday). In addition to Drew and Chase, the crew includes Brady, Cole, Hunter, and for the first time, Joey - very exciting to have Joey with them. Nanaw came over to visit Chase on Sunday evening. They went over questions for War Stories, which is the AR book he's been reading. He wants to take the AR test tomorrow. Mama was going to the new-to-Columbia Jimmy John's to get dinner. Nanaw rode along with her because she wanted to see what it was like. The last photo below shows how wonderfully Mama straightened up Chase's shelves while he was on his adventure.

Saturday, April 6, 2024

Hunter's dad Tim sent a text to Mama saying the signal might not be strong enough to send pictures but that he would try later. He eventually was able to send the first photo below of the pond by the cabin where they're staying. The second photo is a selfie that Chase took and texted to Mama. Tim said the boys had a good night last night. They woke up early and started fishing like early worms in the morning. They caught several bass out of the pond. They ate breakfast, walked on some of the trails and went to the creek. He said they all seem to be having a good time, and that Chase seems to be doing great. Mama and Daddy went for an early dinner at El Paso so Mama could watch the Battlehawks football tonight. She had two beef chimichangas. Mama, Daddy and Nanaw all missed Chase but were happy that he's having a good time. He should be home about 6 p.m. on Sunday evening.\

Friday, April 5, 2024

Mama had the day off from work so she took Chase to school. Nanaw missed seeing him in the morning and looked forward to seeing him at school pickup time in the afternoon. Nanaw had a fun, delicious lunch with Uncle Doug and Aunt Rita at the Corner Pub and Grill at the corner of Dougherty Ferry and Big Bend. Last night, Hunter and his dad invited Chase to go with them this weekend to a cabin about two hours away, down highway 44 past Rolla, Missouri and near Dixon, Missouri. Chase didn't think he wanted to go. Mama and Daddy came up with a plan that the next time Hunter and his dad went to the cabin, Daddy would go along with Chase to keep him company and make sure he was okay and having a good time. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he told her he had news. He said he had talked to Hunter at school and had changed his mind about going to the cabin with Hunter. Whn Chase and Nanaw did the pickup call to Mama, Chase told her he had news and wanted to go on the trip with Hunter. Mama wanted to know if he was sure (she was worried that he would change his mind in the middle of the trip and want to come home). Chase told her he was sure and really wanted to go. Hunter and his dad pickde him up about 6:30, and they got to the cabin at about 9:30 p.m. The photo below is from the afternoon at Nanaw's house. Chase was lying on the floor playing with the car phone while it charged. The car phone was lost until Nanaw found it under a large calculator that was on the dining room table.

Thursday, April 4, 2024

When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he thought he did okay on today's math test. Chase told Nanaw that in computer class they're learning the keyboard and how to type. Chase said he didn't understand why there is a QWERTY keyboard instead of the keys being in alphabetical order. Nanaw said she would look it up. She texted Chase with what she found: "The QWERTY layout was designed to prevent the keys on a typewriter from getting stuck when typing fast. The letters on the keyboard were arranged in a way that kept the most commonly used keys apart from each other, so that they would not get jammed together." At Nanaw's house, they studied for his two Friday tests -- DLR and vocabulary. He studied for the DLR test on his own. Then Nanaw went over the vocabulary words with him. First, they did it the easy way with Nanaw giving him the definitions and Chase giving the word. Then they did it the hard way with Nanaw giving Chase the word and Chase giving Nanaw the definition. He didn't do as well as he usually does so Nanaw will go over them again on Friday morning. They watched the Cardinals home opener with the TV muted. When Chase was finished studying, they went to his house to watch the baseball game with Uncle Mike, Mama and Daddy. The Cardinals won 8 to 5 but they're still in last place at 500. Chase had hockey practice at 6:30.

Wednesday, April 3, 2024

Nanaw was a little worried about Chase's Thursday math test because he was having trouble with the percent and decimal problems. He was getting about half of his problems on the worksheets wrong. Nanaw asked him if he was using equations to solve the problems, and he didn't rally know what she was talking about. Evidently, he didn't understand what the teacher taught and what was explained in his math book. So Nanaw taught him to do the equations to solve the percent and decimal problems. She set up some problems for him to do, and he got them all correct. Then he did the practice chapter test from the math book, and he got everything right on that. So Nanaw has great hopes for Thursday's math test. The picture below is a selfie Chase took and sent to Nanaw.

Tuesday, April 2, 2024

It was back to school for Chase on Tuesday. Nanaw thinks he enjoyed his Easter break. For homework, he went over his persuasive essay again, and then printed it out. It's due in English tomorrow. He has a vocabulary worksheet and a quiz in AR on Friday. He also had math worksheets in preparation for the match test on Thursday. Chase had a project for Nanaw and him to do after school, when they were done with homework. He had watched a video on YouTube that showed how to make homemade Cheez-Its. They used slices of cheddar cheese that Chase cut up into pieces. They baked the cheese pieces in the oven for 20 minutes, then Chase sprinkled salt on them. They got crispy but they tasted good. Chase has more recipes to try so that's what Chase and Nanaw are going to do Friday after school. The pictures below demonstrate before and after of th \e Cheez-Its.

Monday, April 1, 2024

Chase had the day off from school on Monday, the last day of his Easter break. Daddy had the day off from work, and Nanaw decided to have Chase spend the day with Daddy, and she would rest up from Easter. Chase and Daddy went to the driving range and Chase used the new golf clubs that Daddy bought for him. Chase had his annual doctor's appointment, and Daddy took him. Chase now weighs 91 pounds, which means he gained back all the weight plus some that he lost from his stomach troubles.  He got a shot in his arm, and he said it made his shoulder hurt.

Happy Easter. Sunday, March 31, 2024

On Easter Sunday morning, Daddy and Chase went to church early so they could be sure to get a seat. When Chase got home from church, he had his super Easter hung. Mama hid his basket and also plastic eggs with candy and toys in them. In the afternoon, Nanaw picked up Chase and took him to her house to hunt for candy and toys she'd hidden in the living room and dining room. There were ten things for him to find. Aunt Becky and Uncle Mike were there, and Aunt Becky and Nanaw gave him hints. There were 16 for Easter dinner. Nanaw sat across the table from Chase. He ate really well -- ham and delicious party potatoes made by Mama, two of Aunt Becky's wonderful homemade rolls and some of Nanaw's fruit salad. For dessert, Aunt Becky made two kinds of brownies, and Mama made an ice cream dessert that Chase invented -- with ice cream, whipped cream and crumpled chocolate chip cookies -- very good.

Saturday, March 30, 2024

Mama brought Chase over to Nanaw's house for a visit on Saturday morning. He told Nanaw he had a good time at Hunter's house playing with his friends. Brady and Drew had a sleepover with Hunter but Chase and Cole didn't. Mama said Chase had too much to do on Saturday but that next time he could do the sleepover. The first thing Chase and Nanaw did on Saturday morning was work on Chase's math assignment. Nanaw helped him understand how to do percentage problems using equations. You can also do percentage problems using proportions but Chase said he didn't know how to do proportions and didn't want to learn. But maybe on Monday Nanaw can try a few problems with him showing him how to do proportions. After they were done with math, Chase and Nanaw went downstairs so Chase could play on the big keyboard. It's amazing how he can figure out how to play songs just by listening to them and then trying out the notes. Maybe there will come a day when he would be interested in taking piano lessons but he isn't interested now. Perhaps he could use the piano lesson books Nanaw bought when she was trying to learn to play the piano. Chase was very excited about going to Aunt Becca's house today for Easter dinner because he would get to play with his cousin Elias.

Friday, March 29, 2024

Daddy had the day off today and brought Chase over to Nanaw's house at about 12:30. They had stopped at Taco Bell and got two cheese quesadillas for Chase. Nanaw gave him a Lactaid tablet. Chase had had a hockey lesson in the morning, and then he and Daddy went to the nearby driving range to hit gold balls. Daddy bought Chase a new golf bag and golf clubs. Daddy is going to take him golfing more often now that Chase is getting better at golf. Later in the afternoon, Chase had popcorn for a snack. He played with his phone for a while, then he and Nanaw went downstairs for Chase to play on the big keyboard for Nanaw. Then Chase decided to go upstairs and get all the stuffed lemurs and bring them downstairs and put them in the playpen. He watched PBS TV and played with the lemurs -- they were playing pickle ball. Before he went home, he had another snack of small amounts of several things: blueberries, strawberries, chocolate milk, whales and the red and yellow candy Nanaw bought for him yesterday at Schnuck's. Nanaw took Chase home at four so he could go for some hitting practice and catching fly balls with Hunter's dad. Then Chase went over to Hunter's house to play with Hunter, Cole, Drew and Brady, and Mama and Daddy went to Sunset Overlook. Mama forwarded some photos that Hunter's mom took of Chase and the guys -- or the gang or the posse or the pack. Chase is coming over to Nanaw's house at 9:30 tomorrow morning, even though Mama went grocery shopping after work today instead of tomorrow morning.
