Before school, Chase and Nanaw looked up crash dummies on Amazon and found one named "Spare Tire" for $40. They asked Mama if they could buy it but she said no, because Chase would want to play with her crash dummies, and she was afraid he would break them. So much for "Spare Tire." Nanaw went to Dobb's in the morning, and she made a very nice new friend who turns out to be the father of one of Chase's classmates. Mama knows his wife and says they sat with them at the Dinner Auction a couple of years ago. When Chase and Nanaw got home, they were sitting in the car, and Chase asked if Nanaw had any Alka Seltzer because he wanted to see it fizz. Nanaw said no and then Chase said he wondered if one of the Snow Cone mints would fizz or dissolve. Then he said, "Let's have a hypothesis that the mint will dissolve." Then Chase said he wanted to do science experiments so they did. Nanaw got out the vinegar, cornstarch, baking powder, food coloring and shampoo, and they did all kinds of experiments. It was great fun. Chase did his AR reading, watched Curious George and Jeopardy and played hockey with Nanaw. It was a busy day!

When Nanaw went to visit Chase on Sunday afternoon, Mama told her all about their adventure yesterday at Auntie LaLa's house. Chase was excited about getting to spend time with little Will. Little Will didn't play in the hockey game but everybody enjoyed watching his team. Mama said Auntie LaLa's new kitchen is awesome and dinner was great. Mama bought an extra toaster oven that's also an air fryer  that Auntie LaLa had. She fixed dinner in it and said it worked wonderfully. Chase and Nanaw played with Mama's crash dummies on the kitchen table, and Mama came and played with them also. They played soccer and also took off the heads, arms and legs of the crash dummies. Mama looked on eBay to see if they had crash dummies she could buy for Chase but she decided they were too expensive -- $40 each. After the crash dummies, Chase and Nanaw played with the slime with the little figures -- but not the crash dummies -- Mama is very protective of them. Then Nanaw decided to give Chase 20 fractions to reduce down to their simplest form. Chase wasn't very happy about it but he did the fractions and did very well with them. He has a math test on fractions on Thursday so Mama and Nanaw will have to study with him.

Nanaw went to visit Chase on Saturday after his baseball practice. He told Nanaw that at practice they played something called "Wall Ball." They threw the ball against the wall and then had to field it cleanly. When Nanaw got to Chase's house, he was playing with his little sports helmets and football figures. He has football, baseball and hockey helmets for all the teams, plus lots of little football figures. He showed Nanaw his two new football figures that Mama bought for him on eBay. He was excited about going to little Will's and Auntie LaLa's house in the afternoon. Mama said they were going to watch the Blues hockey game (the Blues lost to the Jets 4 to 1). Then they were going to have make your own tacos for dinner and then go to little Will's hockey game. Mama was going to take along heavy blankets because it's so cold by the hockey rink. Chase wanted Nanaw to go into his room and play on the bed with his stuffed animals so that's what they did. He played hurricane with them, and they also had an earthquake -- all very violent and destructive. Next, Chase and Nanaw went into the kitchen to play Uno Attack. Mama played one game with them and won the game, then took Sam and Sylvester for a walk. Then Daddy played three games with Chase and Nanaw. Daddy won two games and Chase won one. Nanaw didn't win any.

When Chase got to Nanaw's house, he was happy to see that her stuffed animals were still on Pawpaw's bed, just like he requested. After school, Chase watched Curious George and other PBS programs and read one of his Wimpy books. Mama reported the following test scores for Chase: 18 out of 20 for religion but he also got extra credit; 28 out of 30 for reading; and 19 out of 20 for social studies. Very good grades! The first picture below are the prizes Chase got for the fundraiser: four Weepuls and four key chains. He and Mama were very excited about them. When Chase got home, Mama told him about their plans for tomorrow. They're going over to Auntie LaLa's and little Will's house in the afternoon. They'll watch the Blues hockey game and then they'll have make your own tacos for dinner. Then they'll go to little Will's hockey game. Chase was excited about the plans because he really likes little Will (who's no longer little and is 16). Chase asked questions and was interested in all the things they were going to do.

Chase brought in lots of stuffed animals from his room at Nanaw's house to the computer lab (as he calls the bedroom). He played with them and his stuffed animals and asked Nanaw to leave them so he could play with them on Friday. He was excited about Mama and Daddy doing their fundraiser orders tonight because that meant he would get Weepuls and key chains. Chase got 20 out of 20 on his spelling test. When Chase got to Nanaw's house, he did his AR reading (even though it wasn't assigned this week and watched Curious George on PBS. Then Chase and Nanaw studied for his reading and social studies tests. The reading test was about hurricanes and social studies was about personal finance. Nanaw found some questions online, and they studied those. Nanaw printed them out so that Chase and Mama could go over them again in the evening. Mama told Nanaw that he did really well on them. Chase studied for his religion test with Daddy.

Chase wore his ICS sweatshirt today because it was so cold outside. When Nanaw picked him up, he said he didn’t bring his books home to study for his tests Friday because there was no room in his backpack. Nanaw found some reading and social studies questions for them to study. They also studied the spelling words. Chase brought home his clarinet, and Nanaw recorded him playing “Lightly Row.” Nanaw posted the video on Facebook. It took awhile to make the video because he kept hitting the wrong notes. But they finally got it. After the video, they played hockey in the hall. Chase won, of course. At Chase’s house, he showed Nanaw the money by his closet door. He only found $80 and there was supposed to be $100. So he’ll be looking forward the missing $20. Nanaw will have to ask Mama tomorrow morning what’s the deal with the money.

It was really cold outside Tuesday morning when Chase came to Nanaw's house. It's going to be even colder tomorrow morning. Chase wanted to give Nanaw $100 of his money for what she bought at the fundraiser but Nanaw told him thank you but she didn’t need his money. He told her about the blessing bags they're making in school for people who don't have much. In the afternoon, when Nanaw picked Chase up from school, Mama was on the phone and so they left a message on her voice mail. Chase said he had a good day and didn’t have any homework. He told Mama that he won $10 because of the fund raiser today. It had something to do with M&Ms but he couldn't tell Mama and Nanaw how it happened. In the evening he told Mama about it, how he got called to the office and got M&Ms because Nanaw had ordered six things. The last picture below is Chase in the office with Ethan and Audrey with their M&Ms. At Nanaw's house, Chase did his 15 minutes of AR reading. Then he and Nanaw studied his spelling words for the test on Thursday. Chase played hockey with his stuffed animals and Nanaw's stuffed animals on the bed. Mama was coming to pick Chase up for baseball practice at 4:15 so Chase changed his clothes, and Nanaw got all this belongings packed up and ready to go.

Mama took Chase to school this morning because she was going help Nanaw take Charlie and Sidney Crosby to the vet for dental work. Nanaw was lucky enough to be able to get Charlie into the pet taxi. He weighs 19 pounds and is mostly unmanageable so that’s why Mama was helping Nanaw. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he had a good day and no homework and no AR reading. He wanted to wait till tomorrow to study his spelling words for the test on Thursday. Chase played hockey with Nanaw’s stuffed animals in the bed, played with the tablet and watched PBS Kids. At five, they met Mama at the vet to pick up the cats. Chase asked Mama if he could watch a hockey tournament on the ROBLOX game at 6 p.m. and Mama said yes. in the evening, Mama texted Nanaw that Chase sent her an email about the magazine fundraiser for his school. For the fundraiser, Nanaw renewed her People magazine and bought three rolls of wrapping paper and gummy bears for Chase and chocolate cashew clusters for herself.

Nanaw went to visit Chase on Sunday before his hockey practice. Mama and Daddy were watching football, and Chase was in the office playing hockey on the X Box. Nanaw sat with him for awhile, watching him play. Then they went into the kitchen to play with his large Playmobil hockey arena, with him showing Nanaw various scenarios (his word). He also brought in the hockey locker room Nanaw bought him for Christmas. He wanted to show Nanaw how he and Daddy set it up and put on all the stickers. Next they went to Chase’s room to play hockey with his stuffed animals. Then they went back to the office so Chase could customize (his word LOL) a hockey team. Nanaw texted Mama to tell her about customize (she'd already told her about scenario) and said that Chase had a better vocabulary than they did. Then it was time for Chase to get ready for hockey practice and for Nanaw to go home. Mama sent the last picture below to Nanaw; it was from Chase's school's Facebook page and shows Chase (the boy on the left) walking down the hall on Friday.

Mama said Chase didn’t go to baseball practice this morning because he threw up twice. Nanaw went over to visit him around noon. She took the Playmobil along so Chase and Daddy could put the stickers on. She also brought Uno Attack and the four Backups for a sleepover. Chase and Nanaw played with his stuffed animals on his bed and then went in the kitchen to play Uno Attack. Mama played with them also. They played four games: Nanaw won two, Mama won one and Chase won one. After they were finished playing, Mama decided to press the button on the Uno Attack machine till all the cards shot out. It was grand fun. Then Chase and Nanaw played with his stuffed animals again until Nanaw left to run errands: Walmart, cemetery, gas station and library.

Chase played with the game set this morning before school but eventually Nanaw had him get dressed. He did well on his two tests today. He got 14 out of 15 in social studies and 21 out of 20 in religion (because of extra credit). Next week he has a spelling test on Thursday, and religion, reading and social studies on Friday — so four tests next week. Mama came to pick up Chase and Nanaw after work to go to Shoe Carnival to get new shoes for Chase. Then they went to Dollar Tree, and Chase got candy and three Hot Wheels cars. Mama tried to get chicken sandwiches at Popeye’s but it was a 30-minute wait. Then she tried to go to Jack-in-the Box but they were closed and out of business. So she went to Chick Fil A, which is one of her favorites so all was well.

This morning, Chase was sad because he didn't have the day off due to cold weather. It was six degrees and below zero with the wind chill. He had big plans to bring his Switch video game player over to Nanaw's to play with. As he was getting dressed for school, Chase told Nanaw that he now has some Pittsburgh Penguins hockey figures for his Playmobil hockey game. He said he gave Daddy $17.00 from his wallet to buy them. Then Chase said, "And he took it!" Nanaw thought that was really funny. On the way out of the house to go to school, Chase said, "Did you know there are castles in Wyoming? There's one that costs $2 million dollars, and that's the one I want."  Where does that boy get things? Mama told Nanaw that Daddy took Chase's glasses to the eye doctor, and they fixed them so Chase will be happy about that. After school, Chase and Nanaw studied for his social studies test tomorrow. It was about economic principles, and Nanaw found some multiple choice questions online for him to study. Nanaw printed them out so that Mama could go over them again with Chase in the evening. Tomorrow Mama is planning for her, Chase and Nanaw to go to Shoe Carnival to buy new school shoes for Chase. Mama said they could go to Dollar Tree, too. Mama sent the last picture below to Nanaw, telling her that Sam came to visit her in the office for a little while; that made Mama very happy. Sylvester comes all the time and spends lots of time with Mama but Sam doesn't. Mama also sent Nanaw the notification she received about Sylvester's DNA test -- it will take two or three weeks to get the results.

On Wednesday morning, Chase read one of his Wimpy books while eating his breakfast rather than playing with the tablet. That made Nanaw very happy— she and Mama want Chase to be a reader. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he had a good day and didn’t have any homework. He kept talking about tomorrow potentially being an asynchronous day — meaning that school might be cancelled tomorrow because of the cold weather. It’s supposed to get down to six degrees tomorrow morning. Nanaw really hopes they cancel school — she would really like to spend the day with Chase. He got his second quarter report card yesterday, and it was really good. His GPA is 4.0. At Nanaw’s house, Chase read his Wimpy book again. Mama came to pick him up for his orthodontist’s appointment. He has to have some baby teeth pulled so that his permanent teeth can come in. Mama says he's not very happy about that.

Daddy had the day off work so he took Chase to school on Tuesday, and Nanaw got to sleep late. Nanaw was so happy to see Chase when she picked him up from school. He said he had a good day except that he forgot his glasses. He said he didn't have any homework, and Nanaw said they would study for Friday's social studies test on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. He and Daddy could study for Friday's religion test on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. When they got to Nanaw's house, Chase started reading one of his library books, and Nanaw brought him some snacks. She suggested he try out the laptop and see if the Wi Fi was faster because of Nanaw's upgrade. He said it was way faster. Nanaw had him go through one side of his multiplication flash cards, and he did well. They'll do the other side tomorrow and then do division on Thursday and Friday. Daddy picked Chase up at 4 p.m. to go to baseball practice. Mama came to pick Nanaw up at 4:30 to go buy snow pants for Chase. He's going to Cole's birthday party at Hidden Valley -- they're going tubing. Then Mama and Nanaw went to the library.

Nanaw went over to visit Chase on Monday morning after Chase got home from getting a haircut. Nanaw loves his hair when he has a buzz cut. When Uncle Mike got a buzz cut, we used to call it short and snappy. It was MLK day and Chase was off school and Mama, and Daddy were off work. Nanaw brought the Hover Bowling game with her but they never did the Hover Bowling. Unfortunately, things didn’t go well with Chase, Mama and Nanaw. Mama kept telling Chase what to do, and he wasn’t doing it. He wanted to play hockey downstairs with Nanaw but that never happened. Finally, Chase and Nanaw played two games of Uno Attack. It was great fun and they had a good time after all.

Nanaw went over to visit Chase at about four p.m. on Sunday. Mama was working on making brownie cookies from a mix that was expiring, and she had the pot roast in the crock pot (yum!). Chase and Nanaw sat at the kitchen table playing with his slime again. Once again, Nanaw brought the chess game but Chase didn't want to play. After awhile, they went into Chase's room and played soccer with the stuffed animals. Then they played baseball with the stuffed animals. Then Chase got some hockey sticks from downstairs, and they played hockey in the upstairs hall. Then it was time for dinner. The pot roast was delicious, and Mama sent some home for Nanaw's dinner on Monday (yum!). After dinner, Mama, Daddy, Chase and Nanaw played Uno Attack, the game Nanaw bought from Amazon last week at Chase's request. Everybody won at least one game so that was a good thing. The game was a great success, and everybody had a good time. They'll play again, soon. After Uno, everyone watched football on TV for awhile, then Nanaw went home.

Nanaw went over to Chase's house to visit him on Saturday morning. Mama was going to Aunt Becca's for wine day at noon so she didn't go to the grocery store. Nanaw brought the chess game with her but Chase didn't want to play. Nanaw bought two copies of Chess for Dummies from Amazon -- one Kindle and one paperback. For awhile, Chase and Nanaw sat in the living room watching cartoon shows. It seems like Chase has started watching more TV than he used to, which is a good thing. Anything to interest him and keep him away from the tablet. Chase piled a bunch of his stuffed animals on Nanaw's lap while she was sitting on the couch, and they played with them. Then they went in the kitchen and played with the slime he got from Hunter and Mason for his birthday. He really likes that slime. They buried little figures (like Captain America and Spiderman) in the slime. Chase was also making what he called "windows" in the slime. Chase still had his skeleton/candy pajamas on so Nanaw said why didn't he get dressed. They went to his room, and he got dressed. Nanaw left when it was time for Daddy and Chase to take Mama to Aunt Becca's. Mama said Aunt Becca had made taco soup for their lunch. Daddy and Chase picked Mama up about 6 p.m., and they had McDonald's for dinner.

When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he told her about the grades he got on his tests. He got 27 out of 30 on the math test; 18 out of 20 on religion and then 2 for extra credit; and 18 out of 20 for reading. So he did well. At Nanaw's house, to Nanaw's surprise, he didn't play with the tablet at all. He played with the game set and the dice and his stuffed animals. He took Curious George, baby George and Biggie home with him for a sleepover. He also took the Pokemon cards. Nanaw asked him to pick up the game set toys in his room because the cleaning lady is coming Tuesday, and he did. Both Chase and Nanaw are excited about the predicted snow. Nanaw wishes we would have a big storm but because Uncle Mike has to remove the snow at UMSL, she would be satisfied with a little storm. Mama, Daddy and Chase were going to have Imo's for dinner. Mama was going to pick it up, and she was going to take Chase with her.
