Wednesday night, Nanaw found some of Chase's homework that was due on Thursday on the dining room table. So at 11 o'clock, she took it over to Chase's house and left it at the bottom of the stairs so he could turn it in on Thursday. From now on, they're going to make a sweep of all the rooms to make sure they have all of Chase's school materials, all of his guys and his phone. Because it was Halloween, Chase didn't have any homework. His class had Halloween snacks -- grapes and little donuts -- delivered by one of the room moms -- Chase's Mama!! For their Halloween dinner, Mama got a pizza for Chase and herself at Papa Murphy's, and she made chili for Daddy and Nanaw. Chase was very excited about the plans for his Halloween trick-or-treating. All of his best friends were coming over to trick-or-treat with him: Brady, Hunter, Cole, Drew and Joey were there. The crew had a great time together. Mama, Brady's mom, Hunter's mom, Emma and Nanaw went with them. One of their special stops was at the principal's house. It was a super night of fun. All the walking wore Nanaw out but it was worth it.

Wednesday, October 30, 2024
On Wednesday morning, Chase said he was ready for the day's math and history tests. Today was Mama and Daddy's 14th wedding anniversary. Nanaw delivered their anniversary card and Outback gift card when she went to get her newspaper. Mama and Daddy are going to Outback tonight for their anniversary dinner, and Chase is going to stay with Nanaw and get all his homework done. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he thought he did okay on both of his math and history tests. Tomorrow, he has a geography test and a science test. Plus, he has to do a geography map that's due tomorrow, math problems, and a history assignment about the election. At 3:30, Daddy came to pick Chase up for a baseball activity that Chase called agility. Chase came back at 5:15, and he had Nanaw get all his study materials out of his backpack, then they worked on his homework. For dinner, Chase had the Cheetos mac and cheese. Mama and Daddy brought a yummy blooming onion from Outback for Chase and Nanaw. In the evening at home, he did his 20 minutes of AR reading in the Public Enemies book.

Tuesday, October 29, 2024
Chase and Nanaw forgot to look at the school menu to see what was for lunch today. They could have looked in the storage area in the car but Charlie and Chares were on top of it so they didn't. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school on Tuesday afternoon, she asked what he had for lunch, and he said Mexican Haystack. That's the lunch Nanaw and Mama wanted to go eat with Chase. But Nanaw doesn't think parents and grandparents can do that anymore. Chase has two tests tomorrow -- in math on chapter 4 and in history on the judicial branch of the government. He has two tests on Thursday -- in geography and in science. After school, Chase and Nanaw did about 20 math problems on chapter 4 from the extra study section in the back of the math book. Chase missed two problems but both times it was carelessness, not lack of knowledge. So Nanaw advised him to go back and check his problems on the test tomorrow to make sure he got them all right. For history, he had a new study guide about the judicial branch that wasn't very specific about things. They studied it as best they could and also studied all the questions in the blue book. So Chase is as prepared for the two tests as Nanaw can do. While they were studying, Nanaw tried to make cheez-its for Chase but she forgot to keep an eye on them so she burned them badly, Maybe she'll try again tomorrow, and this time she'll keep an eye on them so they don't burn. For a few minutes after they finished studying, Chase played with Marc Andre. Chase told Nanaw he plans to take Marc Andre to Rockbridge. Nanaw is going to take the Weather Bingo game.

Monday, October 28, 2024
Monday morning, Chase was happy to see a recovered Charles, in good shape after last night's leg reattachment surgery. Chase has decided to not have a sleepover with the cicadas until Rockbridge. Nanaw tried out the free car wash at the Ford dealer but decided not to use it again. It's kind of complicated to get the code for the car wash; you have to get a new one each time. pulsating water car wash by the storage place so she'll go there and pay for a car wash. For homework, Chase had English, math and history. He did his English by himself, and Nanaw doesn't know what it was. She'll ask him in the morning. Chase and Nanaw both finished the math assignment, and Nanaw compared their answers. They both had the same answers. Chase has a math test on chapter 4 on Wednesday, and today's homework was the chapter test for chapter 4. They'll study math again tomorrow afternoon. Chase also has a history test on Wednesday on the judicial branch of the government. Nanaw called Rockbridge this afternoon to see what time they could get in their rooms on Friday, and it's possible they might be able to get in early, instead of having to wait until 4 p.m. Nanaw thinks everybody is excited about the Rockbridge trip. She and Chase certainly are.

Sunday, October 27, 2024
Chase had an activity-filled day on Sunday. First, he and Daddy went to church. Then Daddy, Mama and Chase went to the south county Bass Pro Shop to get things for the Rockbridge weekend. Chase got a Bass Pro hat, some lures and bait, and some candy. Then Chase and Mama went for a walk along Main Street in Columbia to look at the street decorations. Every Halloween season, Columbia residents and businesses put up character displays on the light posts along Main Street. Some of them include the Cookie Monster, and in front of the police/fire/EMS department, a gurney with a skeleton on it (probably Mama's favorite because she loves skeletons). Chase said his favorite was Clifford the Big Red Dog. Mama took a picture of Chase with Clifford, and Chase was wearing his new Bass Pro Shop hat. After the walk down Main Street, Chase played on the trampoline while Mama sat outside working. Nanaw came over to visit Chase at about 5 o'clock. She brought along Charlie and Charles the cicadas for their sleepover with Chase. For a while Chase played various forms of hockey in the garage, with Nanaw watching. Then Chase and Nanaw went downstairs, where Chase played hockey with Charlie and Charles. Unfortunately, Charles sustained an injury during the hockey game. Nanaw took the cicadas home for Charles' surgery on his loose front leg and sent Chase and Mama a picture of Charles and Charlie when the surgery was done. The sleepover was postponed to tomorrow night.

Chase had hockey practice today, and Mama took him. Mama and Daddy take turns taking Chase to hockey and baseball practice so that neither one is doing it all the time. They usually both go to hockey and baseball games. Mama texted Nanaw that she was going to Raising Cain to get dinner for them and asking if Nanaw wanted any chicken strips. Nanaw said yes, and Mama said she could also have Chase's slaw. Nanaw also got a piece of Texas toast. Nanaw gave Mama $15 to have her name on the back of Chase's Space Camp shirt. She also gave Chase $100 toward the cost of his Space Camp trip. Chase and Nanaw were going to study for Chase's history test on the judicial branch of the government on Wednesday but Chase said they hadn't read that part of the history book and were going to do it in class on Monday. He wanted to wait to read it till then, and Nanaw said okay. They played in Chase's room for awhile. Nanaw showed Chase the toy laptops, iPads and iPhones she bought on Amazon. Then they decided to order another toy laptop. Then Chase went into the living room to play with his Playmobil, and Nanaw went to watch him. When Nanaw got home, she took a picture (the second picture below) of the new stuffed cicada and sent it to Chase and Mama. They both said "Awww."

Friday, October 25, 2024
Chase had the day off from school, and Mama brought him over at 7 a.m. Mama has the afternoon off, and they're planning to have lunch at La Fiesta. Chase brought Marc Andre back to Nanaw's house, and he played with it in the kitchen during the morning. He also did his AR reading. Mama talked with his reading teacher yesterday about his C+ in reading and how he could raise his grade. He's going to read for 20 minutes a day and he'll read shorter books. And Mama and Nanaw will watch him closely to make sure he gets enough points to get a decent grade. At La Fiesta, Mama had a taco and a chimichanga and rise; Chase had a been quesadilla; Nanaw had a steak quesadilla with rice and all kinds of vegetables. It was okay but next time she'l go back to her cheese quesadilla. They all ate lots of chips, salsa and cheese sauce. After La Fiesta, Mama and Nanaw went to Hallmark, and Chase waited in the car to play with Nanaw's phone. Nanaw bought a dog and snowman musical Christmas decoration for Mama and for herself. Mama and Chase both had Halloween adventures in the evening. Mama was going to Alton, Illinois for a haunted history walk through the town. Chase was going to a haunted house in St. Louis with Hunter, Brady, Cole, Mason and a friend. Hunter and Mason's dad Tim was taking them.

Nanaw forgot two things on Thursday that could have turned out badly. They turned out all right but Nanaw is going to make notes from now on about things that she's supposed to remember. The first one was Chase's school Chromebook. Yesterday afternoon, he left it on the dining room table where he studies. Last night after they got back from Grant's Farm, Mama forgot to take the Chromebook out of Chase's backpack to charge it. Nanaw was supposed to charge it in the morning and put it in the backpack, and she forgot. Fortunately, Chase was able to borrow a Chromebook from the office and all was well. Then, Nanaw was supposed to give Cole a ride home from school, and she initially forgot. But sitting in line on the school parking lot waiting to leave, she remembered. So they did the thing of going around the parking lot to the front of the school, and Chase found Cole. Nanaw felt so bad but it turned out all right. To repeat, so that these forgetting episodes don't happen again, Nanaw will make notes about the things she's supposed to remember. Chase has the day off from school tomorrow, and he was very happy that he doesn't have any homework for the long weekend. Mama and Daddy had Chase's parent teacher conferences this afternoon. They went very well. The two teachers said Chase is a very good student. One of the teachers told them Chase is was of the best writers she has, and she always looks forward to reading what Chase writes. One of the teachers told Mama and Daddy that Chase scored in the 99th percentile on the Iowa State math test, something that doesn't often happen. Nanaw was ecstatic to hear this. Nanaw was always in the 99th percentile of the standardized tests, and she's so happy about Chase's score. The teachers said that he scored above the 75% percentile in all the tests.

Wednesday, October 23, 2024
This morning, Chase and Nanaw tried Mama's new advice where Chase doesn't get to play with his phone until he's dressed and ready for school. It worked well. When Nanaw dropped Chase off at school, he reminded her that today and tomorrow are early dismissal days because of the parent teacher conferences. Tomorrow, Mama and Daddy have a 4:10 with Mrs. W. and a 4:35 with Mrs. T., Chase's main teachers. Chase had a lot of homework after school so it was good that he had an extra hour to do it. He had an extensive geography World Almanac worksheet, a math bonus project and studying for a grammar test tomorrow in English. Chase's report card says he got 9 A's, 2 B's and 1 C+, for a GPA of 3.67. He promised to work on the raising the reading C+ grade in second quarter. Chase, Mama and Daddy had an adventure in the evening. They met Jackson and his dad Joe at Grant's Farm. Daddy and Joe went to listen to their financial advisors talk about money. Mama, Chase and Jackson went to look at the animals, especially the llamas and goats. Mama sent lots of cool pictures to Nanaw. Cole's mom texted Nanaw asking if she could give Cole a ride home tomorrow, and Nanaw said definitely and that Chase would be happy to see Cole.

Tuesday, October 22, 2024
When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he told Nanaw he had reddish eyes and he thought he had pink eye. Later, Mama and Daddy said they didn't think he did. Chase told Mama and Nanaw that he had a toasted cheese sandwich for lunch, and it was good. They also had chili but Chase didn't have any. But he did promise to eat some of Mama's chili when she made it for Halloween dinner. Chase was happy he didn't have any homework except for his AR reading. Nanaw told him that from now on, he should read for 20 minutes instead of 15 so that he can read his books faster. In the first quarter, didn't read enough books and take tests to earn enough points for a good grade -- he ended up with a C+. He brought home his math packet and his history material for Nanaw. Nanaw wanted to make copies of some pages in the math packet so she could do them. She had asked him to bring the history home so she could read it -- she likes his history assignments. He's learning about the Founding Fathers, the Constitution, how the government works, elections, etc. Chase likes it, too. He's getting an A in history. Chase had hockey practice tonight. On Sunday when Nanaw came to visit, she brought along Marc Andre, Chase's hockey player set. Chase said he wanted to keep Marc Andre at his house until his day off from school on Friday, and then he'll bring him back to Nanaw's house. Chase and Mama renamed Chase's new hockey set he's getting for his birthday from Marc Antony to Matt Murray, a goalie for the NHL team Toronto Maple Leafs.

Monday, October 21, 2024
When Chase came over to Nanaw's house on Monday morning, he told Nanaw that last night he had studied more for today's geography test and that he didn't need to study any more this morning -- so they didn't. After school, Chase said he had a good day and liked his mini corn dogs for lunch. At lunch recess, he and his friends played on the swings. Cole was back in school today, after missing the chili party and having walking pneumonia. Chase said the geography test wasn't too hard. He didn't bring his math worksheet packet home so Nanaw will have to wait until tomorrow to make a copy of it so she can do the math. Chase's only homework was his AR reading, and he was going to do that tonight. Nanaw looked at his history assignment and made a few suggestions. Nanaw likes reading his history. For a while, Chase went outside and threw a couple of small footballs in the back yard and had lots of fun. Nanaw suggested that he bring his regular-sized football over to Nanaw's house to practice what he calls "perfect spiral throws." This evening, he has catching lessons.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, October 18, 19 and 20, 2024
On Friday, Chase had a boat load of tests and homework due. It was the last day of the first quarter, and the teachers got in as much work as possible. Chase had two English tests, one DLR test (that's grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.). and one about nouns. He had a history test about the preamble to the Constitution. Because he was out sick yesterday, he missed the Outsiders test so he took that on Friday. He also had a religion test. So that's his five tests. He also had math homework, science fair homework and geography homework to complete the study guide document for Monday's test. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school on Friday afternoon, he said the tests weren't too bad and he thought he did okay. The one area he didn't do well in was the AR reading points. He didn't get very many points on his reading tests so he's probably going to get a C+ in reading. On Saturday, Chase had a busy schedule, all day and all evening, so Nanaw didn't get to see him. He had a hockey game and a baseball game during the day. Then in the evening, his friend Drew's parents had a chili party for some of Drew's friends and their parents. Chase had planned to eat some chili, which he's never done before. But his stomach didn't feel so good so he just ate crackers. On Sunday, he had another hockey game, and they won their first game, 4 to 2. Chase and the team and the parents were very happy about that. They were so happy about the victory, everybody decided to celebrate with lunch at a nearby Mexican restaurant. On Sunday afternoon, Nanaw came over to help Chase study for his Monday geography test. They studied for two hours, and Chase promised to read over the material again Sunday evening and go over it again on Monday morning before school. The first picture below is of Chase and his little blonde-haired church buddy Henry on their way to mass. Chase is holding Henry's hand; he says, "Henry looks like a mini-me."

Thursday, October 17, 2024
When Mama brought Chase to Nanaw's house on Thursday morning, she told Nanaw he wasn't feeling well -- he still had a headache, his stomach didn't feel well and he had a cough. Nanaw tried to convince him to go to school because of his Outsiders test but he said he couldn't. Mama said it would be okay for him to stay home. He and Nanaw spent the day studying for his five tests tomorrow. It's the end of the quarter and most of the teachers scheduled tests. Chase also had math homework, science fair homework, a religion worksheet and IXL math computer files to do. Nanaw has never seen Chase to have so much schoolwork to do, especially the number of tests. But Chase was okay with it and not worried about it. He said he thought the tests would be easy. Nanaw had him play in his room for awhile because he was working so hard and being go good and positive about all he had to do. When Nanaw went to Schnuck's for her newspaper, she got chicken noodle soup for his lunch, and he ate all of it. He told Nanaw that chicken noodle is his "goto" soup -- what a cutie he is. Chase was feeling better, and he and Nanaw had a good time with all his work. Mama picked Chase up at 3:50 to take him to get his haircut. Nanaw was hoping he would get a haircut that was short on the sides; she likes his hair that way so much. The first picture below shows before the haircut. The second picture shows a short hair cut that Nanaw loves. The third picture is Chase's new hair cut, and it's not short at all. Maybe sometime.

Wednesday, October 16, 2024
Chase was still not feeling well on Wednesday morning with a bad headache so Mama gave him adult Tylenol. He said it helped the headache feel better. During the day, Mama texted Nanaw with a picture of Lars the Lemur when he was new. Mama was trying to figure out when Lars came to live with Chase. She gave Mama a couple of dates to research on Days of Chase. Nanaw found some blogs that said Grandma Pat gave Lars to Chase. But no one can remember when she went to the zoo or whether she ordered Lars online. So it will probably be a mystery. Nanaw just thought of another thing to search so she'll go do that and be back momentarily. Nanaw is back but unfortunately no luck on the search for the origins of Lars. Chase has a test tomorrow on The Outsiders but the teacher didn't return the packets. Fortunately, Nanaw had made a copy and answered most of the questions so Chase had something to study. Nanaw finished filling out the answers, and Chase studied at Nanaw's house and then was going to study at home in the evening. On Friday, he has a DLR test, a nouns test, and a preamble to the Constitution test in history. There's also the possibility that he'll have a geography test on Friday. Unfortunately, he has a haircut appointment tomorrow at 4 and baseball practice in the evening. Nanaw texted Mama to see if it might be possible for Chase to not go to baseball practice so he can study for all his tests.

Tuesday, October 15, 2024
On Tuesday morning, Chase said he felt a little better than yesterday but he still had a headache. Nanaw had a new adventure today -- going to a chiropractor for the first time. For the past few months, Nanaw has had a clicking sound in her hip when she's walking. It doesn't hurt but it's sort of annoying and makes her not want to go for walks. So she went to Mama's chiropractor, and he did all kinds of interesting things. Nanaw hopes that it helps. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he felt worse. He said his headache was really bad, and now his arms and legs had cramps and his stomach didn't feel well. Nanaw gave him Tylenol for his headache when they got home. He spent time lying on the bed in the computer lab, playing on his phone and eating snacks. After a while, he said he felt better and decided he felt good enough to do his English homework. Nanaw made a copy of his math homework for herself so she could do the problems. Chase had told her it was easy and fast to do, and he was right. The homework was nine easy-to-do and understand problems teaching students (and Nanaw) to learn how to do proportional relationships. Nanaw is sure that eventually the problems with get more difficult. Chase texted Daddy that he didn't feel well enough to go to hockey practice, and Daddy said okay.

Monday, October 14. 2024
On Monday, Mama was off from work and Chase was off from school for what we still call Columbus Day but what other people call Indigenous Peoples Day. Mama went to the grocery store in the morning, then brought Chase, his groceries, and Nanaw's newspaper over to Nanaw's house. They were going to have a shopping adventure. Mama had volunteered to be a room mother this year and one of their jobs is to provide the snacks for the monthly faculty meeting on early dismissal day, which is this Wednesday. They went to Waterloo Walmart, Sam's and then Arby's. Chase wasn't feeling good, and he had a headache -- Mama thought it might be allergies, and she gave him some medicine. After Sam's. Mama took Nanaw home and then took Chase and his backpack home. Mama wanted him to rest and then do some work on his science fair project while she went out shopping again. Later, Mama told Nanaw that he took a nap and felt better, which made both Mama and Nanaw happiy. At Walmart and Sam's, Nanaw looked for a new toilet seat for the hall bathroom but couldn't find one with metal screws and connectors instead of plastic. So she went to Home Depot and found on. She was going to try to install it herself but unfortunately, it turned out to be different than regular ones. So dear, wonderful Uncle Mike is going to make a special quick trip to Nanaw's after work tomorrow to install it. Yay for Uncle Mike!

Saturday and Sunday, October 12 and 13, 2024
Chase had a Bears baseball game on Saturday morning, and he got to pitch, which made him very happy. In the afternoon, he had a hockey game at the All American hockey arena off Lindbergh. Nanaw had a high school reunion in the afternoon and after the reunion was picking Chase up after his hockey game. Unfortunately, Nanaw fell when she tripped over a raised sidewalk as she and Chase were walking to her car. Some very nice people helped her up, and Chase said they were the family of one of the players on his hockey team. Chase was very kind to Nanaw and told her he hoped she was okay, and she was happy to tell him she was. On the way home, they stopped at Chase's house to get his clothes and stuff, and he hit a few baseballs in the back yard before they left. On the way to Nanaw's house, they went to Sonic to get Chase's supper. Nanaw ordered two orders of onion rings so she could have one but they only sent one. Sweet little Chase divided up his dinner (as shown in the first picture below) to give to Nanaw. Nanaw thanked him but told him he should eat all of it, Nanaw atejust ate one onion ring and fixed shrimp for her dinner. He's such a good boy. After dinner, they worked on Chase's math and history homework. Chase got all the math finished but Nana still has a few problems to do. They had fun with the history homework about the President's Cabinet. They kept asking Alex and ChatGPT questions; Alexa failed most of them but ChatGPT did well. Mama and Daddy picked Chase up at 8:30 on Sunday morning for his Bears baseball game out in O'Fallon, Missouri, close to where Nanaw's high school reunion was. Before his parents got there to pick him up, Chase texted Mama that she'd forgotten to pack his baseball shorts so she texted back that she'd bring them. Then when they got to Nanaw's, Chase said they'd forgotten the belt he wears with his baseball pants to keep them up. So Daddy went back home to get it. Mama said next time, they'd ask Nanaw to bring Chase home after a sleepover so nothing would be forgotten. Mama reported to Nanaw that after Chase's morning baseball game, they went to Burger Kind for lunch. Chase played out in the back yard in the afternoon, and they had Mama's homemade tacos for dinner.

Friday, October 11, 2024
Nanaw got up at the early time on Friday morning because she forgot that Mama had the day off and was going to take Chase to school. So Nanaw went back to bed. When she got up she saw Chase's math notebook on the counter. She quickly got dressed so she could take it to school for him. But it turned out that she was a few minutes late for his math class. She thought it was after lunch but it was before lunch. It was all Nanaw's fault that he didn't have the notebook, and she felt badly about it. After dropping the notebook off at school, Nanaw did a recon drive to find the hockey arena where she's supposed to pick Chase up at 4:30 tomorrow afternoon. Mama sent Nanaw a picture that the principal sent Mama of Chase with the microphone in the office where he read the morning prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance and the Mission Statement. After school, Chase played hockey in the hall and also played on his computer in the computer lab. Mama and Uncle Mike spent the day together today. Today's big adventure was a visit to the Clydesdales at the brewery. Mama has pictures of them petting the Clydesdales. Tomorrow morning, Chase has a baseball game; Nanaw has her reunion tomorrow afternoon; Mama and Daddy are going to a wedding tomorrow evening; and Chase has a hockey game in the afternoon. Then Chase and Nanaw are having a sleepover.
Thursday, October 10, 2024
Thursday, October 10, 2024
On the way to school, Chase said he might be having a sleepover with Nanaw on Saturday night. Mama and Daddy are going to a wedding, and Nanaw is going to pick Chase up from hockey in the afternoon and take him to her house. He wants to have Sonic for dinner. Nanaw said maybe they'd have a fire in the firepit in Nanaw's front yard on Saturday evening. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he told Nanaw he had chicken fajitas for lunch, and they were good. He said the crew played Infection at lunch recess; Infection is a version of Tag, just like Sharks and Minnows is. Then, they talked about his homework. He had three things to do: he had part of the math assignment to finish; he had to write a globalization paragraph of 3 to 5 sentences for the geography worksheet; and he had to edit the draft of his science fair project, based on the teacher's comments / notes. Nanaw did the math assignment also. She likes to do math and hopes that someday Chase will like math as much as she does. Mama did a post on Facebook about Sam going to heaven, with wonderful pictures of Sam.

Wednesday, October 9, 2024
On Wednesday morning, Chase and Nanaw were surprised that Thursday's science vocabulary test had been moved to Wednesday, according to Homework Central. Chase studied the study guide and then Nanaw quizzed him on the vocabulary words. They decided that from now on, they would check Homework Central when they got home in case one of the teachers added something new or made changes. Nanaw looked through Facts before she picked Chase up and saw that he has four A's and four B's. She looked at his homework grades and saw that many of them were not very good. When Chase and Nanaw were back at Nanaw's house, Nanaw told him she wanted to have a conversation about homework. She explained that he needed to take more care with doing his homework to make sure his answers were as correct as he could make them. She had noticed that sometimes he guessed at the answers rather than going back through the materials and finding the correct answers, especially in the reading packet and the history packet. She also suggested that if there were answers he wasn't sure about and couldn't find in the packet materials, he could check online. His quiz and test scores have been better because he's been studying a lot more. So maybe the same thing can happen with his homework grades.

Tuesday, October 8, 2024
On Tuesday morning, Chase and Nanaw went over the material for Chase's history and religion tests on Tuesday. Chase knew the answers to the questions, and Nanaw told him she hoped the teachers only asked questions from the material. She said that sometimes they included other questions, outside the study guides. On the way to school, they listened to the Kindle version of Public Enemies, the book that Chase is reading for AR. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, they couldn't get Alexa to read Public Enemies, and they didn't know why. Chase said he thinks he did well on the history and religion tests. He said the history test came completely from the study guide. But the religion test had some questions that weren't in the study guide, and he's not sure if he had the right answers. Nanaw hadn't heard whether the cleaning lady was finished at her house so the they went there to see. Her car was still there so they headed to Chase's house. By the time they got there, Nanaw got a text saying she was gone. Chase went inside to go to the bathroom and get a snack and then they went to Nanaw's house. Chase has two tests on Wednesday and so they studied for the DLR test and the math test on chapter 3. Chase studied the LR material by himself; Nanaw will go over it with him on Wednesday morning. Nanaw picked out eight math problems from the extra practice section of the math textbook. Chase did really well on the problems; he got all eight of them right. So Nanaw has great hopes for him on tomorrow's test. She created one more problem for him to do tomorrow morning; the problem includes negative numbers, fractions and decimals, all the things he studied in chapter 3. In the evening, he had hockey practice.

Monday, October 7, 2024
On Monday morning, Chase and Nanaw went over his vocabulary words for the quiz today. He seemed to know all of them but Mama said she briefly saw an email saying he missed two of them. Nanaw can't find the vocabulary quiz scores in FACTS, the place where Chase's grades are kept. Nanaw texted Mama to see if she knows what's going on with Facts and the vocabulary and Outsiders grades. Mama sent Nanaw an email telling her that she and Brady's mom are going on a Haunted History Walking Tour in Alton on October 25. Hopefully, they'll be really scared. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he had a good day. He said the vocabulary test was okay, and he had lasagna for lunch, which he liked. At lunch recess, he and his crew played sharks and minnows again and this time Chase was a minnow. After school, Chase finished his math homework assignment, and then he and Nanaw studied for tomorrow's history test and religion test. He had study guides for both tests, and if the teachers just ask questions from the study guides, he knows all the material. But if they ask additional questions that aren't on the study guides, he may not know the answers. There wasn't enough time to study all the history and religion material. After Nanaw took Chase home, he had a baseball catching lesson.

On Sunday, Nanaw went over to Chase's house about 1 in the afternoon to study with him for his homework assignments, his vocabulary test on Monday, and his history test on Tuesday. He also has a religion test on Tuesday on chapter 4 of the religion text book. He had so much homework and so much studying to do. First, they worked on his history. He had to work on the blue US government booklet to complete the questions and study them for the test on Tuesday. He also had to do worksheets on the Constitution preamble and the 27 amendments to the Constitution. After he finished answering the blue packet questions, Nanaw tested him on them. He still has a long way to go in knowing the answers. Next, he studied the Outsiders vocabulary for chapters 8 through 12 for the vocabulary test on Monday. They had tried quizzing him but he didn't know them at all so he that's why he went back and studied them. They went through the vocabulary words twice and he did better but he still has to work on them tomorrow morning before school with Nanaw. Before she left, Nanaw took lots of pictures of Chase in the front yard with all their Halloween blow-ups. After leaving Chase's house, Nanaw went to Sherry's house for a birthday dinner for Uncle Doug. It was great, as always.
