Happy New Year's Eve, Tuesday, December 31, 2024

Chase had hockey practice around noon on Tuesday, and Mama took him. She and Daddy take turns taking Chase to his hockey and baseball practices but both of them go to his games. In the afternoon, Mama and Daddy had a viewing party for the Blues Winter Classic hockey game in Chicago's Wrigley Field against the Chicago Blackhawks. The guests at the hockey party were Nanaw, Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky, Uncle Stan, Aunt Becca, and Uncle Will-Bill. The Blues won the game 6 to 2, and everybody was very happy. Uncle Will-Bill brought Christmas presents -- a really cool Blues T-shirt for Chase, and a Blues blanket and horses lights for the WE bar. He also bought a present for Will but it hadn't arrived yet. Nanaw brought shrimp, summer sausage and Colby Jack cheese as her contribution to the party. Mama made all kinds of things, including two hot dips, rye bread pizza, meatballs, bacon-wrapped Smokies, toasted ravioli, pretzel bites and a Jell-O cake. Everything was delicious. Chase and Nanaw spent a lot of time in the living room watching the hockey game. After the game, Chase played knee hockey, and Nanaw watched him. Then Chase said he didn't feel too well and was going to his room to lie down. Nanaw was going to watch Home Alone in the living room but Mama suggested she go to Chase's room to watch it and she did. Chase fell asleep, and so Nanaw went home about 9:30 rather than staying till midnight. Mama sent Nanaw a Happy New Year text with confetti and said Chase got up to put on his pajamas but then went right back to sleep.

Chase spent the day with Nanaw on Monday. Before breakfast, he played on his phone for a while. Then he had breakfast at eight -- his regular, cheese, yogurt and a nutrigrain bar. Nanaw has started having him drink his Premier Protein drink with 30 grams of protein with his breakfast, rather than chocolate milk. While Chase ate, Nanaw went to get stamps at the post office and her newspaper at Schnuck's. When she got home, she heard Chase laughing in the computer lab. It turns out that he was doing an online chat with Roblox players. Evidently, when you're 13, you can do that. Later he played in the kitchen with his hockey players; he got Marc Andre for Easter and now he just got Matt Murray for Christmas. He looked like he was really having fun, and he told Nanaw that Matt Murray won the game they played 10 to 9. In the afternoon, Nanaw set up a place in the dining room for them to play one of the new Bingo games Chase got for his birthday and Christmas. Nanaw had Chase select one of the games to play, and he picked Geo Bingo that focused on all kinds of mostly foreign countries. When Nanaw took Chase home, he told her it had been a fun day. Tomorrow's New Year's Eve excitement is going to Chase's house for the Blues/Blackhawks Winter Classic hockey game in Chicago. Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky, Uncle Stan, Aunt Becca, Uncle Will/Bill will be there.

On Sunday morning, Chase and Daddy went to church. At 1 p.m., Chase had a hockey game. He was very happy that his team tied the game, 1 to 1. After the game, they went to Pure Hockey so Chase could spend his gift cards. But unfortunately, he didn't find anything he wanted to buy. In the early evening, after they got home from the hockey game and Pure Hockey, Nanaw came over to visit. Earlier in the day, Chase had texted Nanaw, asking her to bring her sewing kit with her when she came to visit so that she could repair one of his pillows. Nanaw sat at the kitchen table and sewing up a big beige pillow dog. Chase brought Tee Tee in to sit with the pillow and make him feel better. The Minnesota Vikings played the Green Bay Packers today and Mama was very excited about her favorite football team. Daddy and Chase wee watching the game intently but Mama only visited every once in a while because she was so nervous about the game. Minnesota won, and Mama was very happy. Mama fixed Italian beef for dinner, and Nanaw stayed to eat some -- it was very good. After dinner, Nanaw had Chase take Matt Murray and the three new bingo games out to her car for Chase to play with tomorrow at Nanaw's house.

Mama and Chase reported to Nanaw all about Chase's birthday sleepover. Mama said they had the ice cream cake she made after they got back to Chase's house after the bowling party. Everybody really liked it, and a couple boys had a second helping. Mama said they pretty much stayed up almost all night. She thinks they might have done some sleeping at 4 a.m. Both Mama and Daddy said the boys made lots of noise, including playing on the keyboard. Chase said they played cards, knee hockey, Xbox, and hide and seek. Mama said she didn't get any sleep but Daddy got some. In the morning, Mama wen to Schnuck's and bought 18 donuts for breakfast. The boys were gone by 10 a.m. Later Mama took a nap, and fortunately, Chase didn't have any hockey or baseball activities today. Chase said the guys had lots of fun, and he did too. Mama said he also said something to the boys about his Nanaw being chill, which made Nanaw extremely happy. In the evening, Auntie LaLa, Uncle Chris, their daughter Phoebe and her boyfriend Eli came over to visit. All of them were so much fun and so interesting. For dinner, they had delicious Papa Murphy's pizza and toasted ravioli. They visited downstairs for about 6 hours, and there was never a dull moment. Chase was downstairs with them for most of the time, then went upstairs to play on his phone. He asked Mama to fix him a kiddy cocktail, and she did. Nanaw came upstairs to visit with him for a while. He showed her the Santa Mallow and the Jack Skellington bobblehead he got as presents from Brady; he also got gift cards. He got a Pure Hockey gift card from Auntie LaLa and Uncle Chris so he now has lots of money to spend at Pure Hockey.

Mama brought Chase over to Nanaw's house on Friday morning to visit for a while before their ice skating adventure. Chase played on the computer and complained about how slow it was. So Nanaw reset the modem, did the disk cleanup function, and deleted the browsing data. Chase said it was a little faster, and Nanaw was happy about that. At 10:45, Mama picked up Chase and Nanaw to go to the Centene ice rink at Riverport for Chase's ice skating adventure of Stick and Puck. What that means is that random hockey players pay $15 to skate and hit the puck around the ice rink for an hour. Chase got into his gear, and shot the puck and skated for about half an hour. Then he left the ice and changed out of his gear. He told Mama that his stomach hurt and that he had skated enough. Mama had planned to take Chase to Pure Hockey to spend the gift cards he got for Christmas but said he should go home and rest because of the evening's bowling birthday party, followed by the crew's sleepover at Chase's house. Nanaw went to the party, which started at 6 and lasted till 8. In addition to Chase, Brady, Cole, Drew, Hunter, and Joey, Brady's sister Emma and Hunter's brother Mason were there. They had a wonderful time bowling and eating pizza and goofing around.  Nanaw was happy to see Cole's mom, Hunter's mom, and Emma's mom and dad there at the party. Mama had all kinds of snacks and drinks at the house for the boys, plus an ice cream cake for Chase's birthday cake.

Monday: Jackson's mom Jen gave Mama and Nanaw a super duper idea about stuffed animals. Amazon sells unstuffed bean bag chairs that you gently and lovingly put stuffed animals in. As soon as the chair comes, Chase and Mama are going to work on the chair. Mama sent Chase and Nanaw a Facebook post from trainer Tom's wife that is a holiday lights scavenger hunt for them to use on Christmas Eve when they drive around to look at lights. Chase spent Monday with Nanaw for his Christmas break. Mama sent Nanaw a text about her and Chase needing dip bowls, and Nanaw told she'd guessed one of her Christmas gifts -- ramekins. Chase and Nanaw went shopping looking for puppy calendars for Mama but couldn’t find any. Nanaw will look on Amazon. At noon on Monday, Nanaw dropped Chase off while she went to the second Dollar Tree looking for calendars. When she got home, he was sitting at the dining room table eating. It was so cool, He got out a place mat, his lunchable lunch, his Premier Protein drink, and was eating lunch. Nanaw was so proud and so impressed. Tuesday: On Christmas Eve, Chase and Daddy went to Pure Hockey, where Chase brought some rd and white hockey stick tape so he could make his hockey stick look Christmassy. Nanaw thought he was going to use his $100 gift card from Uncle George but he didn't. Daddy bought the red and white tape for him. Later, Daddy went to KFC in Waterloo to get dinner -- Nanaw's treat. It was delicious. After dinner, they went to drive around Columbia to look at Christmas lights. The scavenger hunt sheets made it more fun and interesting. Wednesday -- Merry Christmas! On Christmas morning, Chase and Daddy went to 9 o'clock mass. Chase had opened his presents before church and was very excited to get so many hockey-related presents. While Chase and Daddy were at church, Mama made cherry turnovers. Pillsbury stopped making the ones in the can so Mama found a recipe for them. Mama said they tasted delicious even though the puff pastry acted up. At Uncle Mike's for Christmas dinner, their oven wouldn't work, so Nyeal had to take the party potatoes over to Nichole's to bake them. Fortunately, they hadn't planned to fix a turkey. They grilled pork loin and turkey legs, and Joey brought wo hams that he smoked. So everything worked out fine. There was a huge amount of delicious food, and everybody ate lots. After dinner, they exchanged gifts, which was fun and rewarding. It was a great celebration, and Nanaw was completely stress-free, which was her goal. Thursday: Nanaw went over to Chase's house to pick him up for their Train House adventure. Mama wasn't quite ready for him to go - they were changing the sheets on his bed and arranging the stuffed animals. Chase and Nanaw left about 10 a.m. and had a super great time at the Christmas train display. They found about seven skating displays, more than ever. Nanaw wants one like the penguin skating rink Aunt Becky got from Menard's, and so she may go to Menard's to look for one.  Mama brought lunch for them from Sonic and Taco Bell and stayed a while to read while Nanaw fell asleep on the sofa and Chase played with the cicadas. They also played a new baseball board game Mama brought over. It was a fun day.

On Saturday, Chase and Daddy went to the big park, probably to roller blade and play hockey. In the evening, Jackson and his parents came over for a Christmas visit. Nanaw came, too. Mama and Nanaw drove to Waterloo to Pizza Hut to pick up dinner: two pepperoni pizzas and cheese garlic sticks. Yummy! The boys ate downstairs, and the adults ate upstairs in the kitchen. After dinner, everyone gathered downstairs to exchange Christmas gifts. Chase gave Jackson a strike zone. Jackson gave Chase a dart board, a liar detector, a huge and soft St. Louis Blues blanket and some other toy Nanaw wasn't sure about. The boys played knee hockey for a long time, while the adults watched the boys and football. Then they had a delicious ice cream cake dessert that Joe and Jen made together. It was a wonderful visit, and everybody had a great time. On Sunday, Chase served as mass, along with his friend Hunter, whose dad is still sick. Chase had a hockey game around noon, and both Mama and Daddy went. Chase's team won, 4 to 2, and Mama and Daddy said Chase played really well and almost scored a goal. Nanaw came over to visit in the evening. Mama was fizing a chicken casserole, using a rotisserie chicken from Schnuck's. Mama gave Nanaw some hacked-up chicken to eat, and it was really good. Chase and Nanaw went into the kitchen so Chase could play hockey with Matt Murray, and Nanaw could watch. It was fun, and Nanaw brought the cicadas, Tee Tee and Lars into the kitchen so they could play, too. The cicadas came back home with Nanaw, and she promised to let them use Chase's new baseball blanket so they could stay warm.

On Thursday morning, Nanaw checked with Chase to make sure he had his geography materials for his open book quiz today, and he did. He also had his Mockingbird vocabulary words finished and ready to turn in. The excitement for the day was the evening trip to Santa's Magical Kingdom in Eureka. On the way, Chase updated Mama, Daddy and Nanaw on his day. He said he thought he did okay on his geography quiz. He also said that in math class, they learned how to write a check. Mama, Daddy and Nanaw thought that was funny. They got to Santa's Magical Kingdom about 5:45, and there weren't many cars ahead of them. The lights and displays were beautiful and plentiful. It took about 40 minutes to drive through the whole display. The cost was $35 per car, and Nanaw thought it was worth it. You paid cash at the end of the ride. As they were leaving, they saw a huge line of cars waiting to get in, so they were really glad they came early and didn't get stuck in a line. Even though they liked it a lot, they didn't think they would come back again. Back in Columbia, Mama did the Taco Bell drive-through for dinner. Unfortunately, when they got home, Mama discovered that they had forgotten to give Mama her taco and Daddy his soft taco so she went to get them. She had gotten three mexi-melts -- one for her, one for Daddy and one for Chase and Nanaw to share.\

Happy Birthday, Chase! December 20, 2024

Chase is 13 today, a teenager! Mama and Daddy both took him to school on Friday morning. There was a lot to carry in to celebrate his birthday with the two classes: two cookie cakes, all kinds of chips, and all kinds of Power-Ade. Mama needed help carrying it all in. Chase got out of school at noon for Christmas break, and Mama and Nanaw both went to pick him up. It was really cold and windy waiting for him. First, they went to Chase's house to pick up his phone, and then they went to La Fiesta for lunch. Mama had a cheese quesadilla and a taco; Chase had two chicken quesadillas (one was for dinner tonight); and Nanaw had a cheese quesadilla. After lunch, they went to Sam's to get chips and snacks for Chase's sleepover/bowling alley birthday party next Friday with the crew. Then they went back to Nanaw's house till four when it was time to go to Chase's house for him to open birthday presents. Nanaw got him another hockey set like Marc Andre; this one is going to live at Chase's house and the guy is named Matt Murray after another hockey player. Nanaw also got him a baseball blanket that's going to live at her house, a sports bingo game, a geo bingo game, and a Dick's gift card that he can use for batting gloves as Daddy suggested. Mama and Daddy got him a huge goalie set that he really wanted. He took it out in the garage, and he and Daddy shot goals for a while. Nanaw went outside to watch, and that was fun but cold. Chase had hockey practice in the evening, and Mama took him, and Daddy picked him up. The first picture below is Chase and Mama in their matching Jack Skellington sweaters. Today was a dress-down day at school with everybody wearing holiday clothes or their pajamas.

On Wednesday morning, Chase and Nanaw didn't do any studying for today's English test because they thought Chase knew the material well. Chase wasn’t too happy about his late hockey game on Wednesday evening. He had to be out in Wentzville by 7:10 p.m., and he wouldn't be home after the game till after 10:30 p.m. So he wouldn't get as much sleep as he usually does. Today, Nanaw had lunch with Brady's grandma and Andrew's grandma at Reifschneider's, a restaurant in Columbia. Nanaw was excited because she had a Reuben sandwich, her first ever. It was delicious. After school, Chase worked on his math and then on his Mockingbird vocabulary. He asked Nanaw if she had recently gotten any of his graded papers from Mama, and Nanaw said no. He was looking for one of his geography papers that he needed for tomorrow's open book test in geography. The paper had somehow ended up in the recycling bin, and Mama had retrieved it for Chase so that was a good thing. Thursday's night's adventure is for Daddy, Mama, Chase and Nanaw to go to Santa's Magic Kingdom out on Highway 44 to see all the Christmas lights. Nanaw is very excited. Nanaw forgot to take a picture of Chase so he took a selfie and belatedly sent it to Nanaw, after she texted to remind him. Neither of them were doing a good job at remembering today.

On Tuesday morning, Mama and Chase showed up with several problems. They forgot Chase's belt and water bottle. So Chase and Nanaw were going to Chase's house on the way to school to get the belt, and Nanaw would fix lemon water for Chase to take to school. The last problem was the biggest one. Mama got an email from the school saying Chase was late turning in a science project. Chase and several other students were supposed to turn in the science project on Monday but they didn't. Because of this, Mama said Chase couldn't have his phone, and she put it in the clothes bag. After school, Chase told Nanaw that he'd finished the science project and turned it in. He said he did it by himself because the other students wouldn't focus. Nanaw reported this to Mama, and Mama said Chase could have his phone. But Chase and Nanaw were studying history and English so he didn't get his phone. He did a really good job on both history and English. He asked Nanaw if she still had some popcorn she could make for him, and Nanaw said yes. Then he asked if he could have melted butter on it. Again, Nanaw said yes; Chase really liked it. Nanaw texted Mama about what they were having, and Mama said she was jealous because she loves popcorn. So Nanaw promised to make it for her with butter on Friday afternoon, when she and Chase were at Nanaw's house for Chase's birthday.

On Monday morning, Chase brought Charlie and Charles back from their sleepover last night at his house. He was happy to see the lemurs who had a sleepover at Nanaw's house, plus a banana party: Lars, Dylan and Lemy. Nanaw tried something new with Chase's breakfast; instead of his chocolate milk, she gave him his chocolate premier protein drink to make sure he has plenty of protein for his day, It seemed to work well. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he didn't really have much homework, which wasn't accurate but Nanaw didn't find that out until later. He spent the time at Nanaw's house on his phone, on his Chromebook, on the computer and playing knee hockey. Nanaw asked if she could see the homework assignments that were due Wednesday -- a n English test on sentences and a history packet about the Civil War. It turns out that he should have been working on those assignments after school today, especially the history one. That one is going to take him hours to finish, and he may not have hours available. From now on, Nanaw is going to gently and lovingly insist that Chase do as much homework as he can at Nanaw's, even working on assignments of upcoming tests that aren't due the next day. It seems that Chase takes the approach that he only works on homework assignments or studies for tests that are due the next day.

On Sunday morning, Daddy and Chase went to mass. As usual, they bought some of the things the eighth graders are selling as a fundraiser for their trip to Washington D.C.  Daddy bought Krispy Kreme donuts and pretzel bites. Nanaw came over about 3 p.m. to watch Mama make cookies. When Nanaw got there, she was making turtle cookies, the ones Nanaw used to make years ago when Mama still lived at home with Pawpaw and Nanaw. When Nanaw first started making them, she used semi sweet chocolate chips and then changed to milk chocolate because Nanaw and Mama liked those better. So Mama now uses milk chocolate chips, too. When they were done and cooled, Mama gave Nanaw a sample. They tasted really good but the chocolate chips got smeared all over, and Mama wasn't happy about  that. While Chase and Nanaw were sitting at the kitchen table watching Mama, they cracked and ate nuts. Chase cracked a perfect Brazil nut for Nanaw, something no one had every done. Nanaw was very excited. They had a grand time cracking nuts and talking and laughing. The Mama got the cookie cutters out: a Christmas tree, a candy cane, a stocking, a gingerbread man, a snowman, and bell. Chase and Nanaw played a game of guessing which cookie cutter the other one had selected. Neither Chase nor Nanaw got any of their answers right. Next, Chase went into the living room to play knee hockey with his stuffed animals, and Nanaw went in to watch. For dinner, they had Mama's delicious stir fry. Later, when it was time for Nanaw to go home, Chase said Lars wanted to have a sleepover with her because he didn't want her to go home. Lars brought along the other lemurs Dylan and Lemy. Chase decided Charlie and Charles were going to have another sleepover with Chase. At Nanaw's house, Chase's lemurs, along with Nanaw's lemur Waino gathered on the sofa with play bananas, and Nanaw took a picture of the lemur banana party and sent it to Mama and Chase. Chase had weight training on Saturday morning and that was his only sports-related activity for the day. In the afternoon, Mama, Daddy, Chase and Nanaw went to Uncle Mike's Christmas party. They picked Nanaw up about 3 p.m. Nanaw brought Charlie the cicada to ride along to the party. There were lots of people at the party when they got there, more than are usually there so early. Nanaw spent a lot of time in the living room with the fireplace and the Christmas tree. Daddy and Chase were in there a lot of the time, too. Mama spent almost all of her time downstairs with Nanaw's grandkids and their significant others. Lots of Aunt Becky's family were there, along with lots of Aunt Becky's colleagues from Guadeloupe. Everybody was very sad about the school closing. The food was delicious, and Nanaw ate lots of little cinnamon rollups, meat rollups, cookies, flavored popcorn, banana bread and pumpkin bread. Chase and Daddy played ping pong downstairs until the dogs halted the game. The dogs kept chasing the ball, which made it difficult to play. After the drive home to Nanaw's house in the dark and rain, Chase asked Nanaw to go inside and get Charles the cicada so he and Charlie could have a sleepover together at Chase's house. Later, Nanaw texted Mama asking her to take a picture of Chase because Nanaw forgot to take one. Mama took one of Chase in his jammies playing knee hockey. Mama also sent the first picture below of her and Uncle Mike.

Mama told Chase to say Happy Birthday to Mr. G. on Friday morning. Later that morning, Mama delivered some tickets to the school, and Mr. G told Mama that Chase had said Happy Birthday. Mama and Nanaw weren't sure that shy little Chase would say it. Mama had the day off from work so she and Nanaw could go Christmas shopping. They achieved an amazing amount, going to Target, Sam's, Dick's, Pure Hockey, Burlington, Macy's, the library, to get gas, the bank ATM for Mama to get money, and most fun of all, lunch inside at Taco Bell. Nanaw got gift cards for Chase at Dick's and Pure Hockey so she's done with Christmas shopping for Chase. She's done with all her Christmas shopping except for some surprises for Mama. Nanaw got home with a few minutes to spare before it was time to go pick up Chase. Nanaw was a couple of minutes late getting to school, and Chase was out on the parking lot looking for her. But all was well. He was very happy that Mama had brought Tee Tee and Lars wrapped in a baby blanket along with her and Nanaw on their shopping marathon. Unfortunately, he had a Mockingbird quiz in reading that he and Nanaw and Mama missed seeing on Homework Central. He said he thinks he did okay but Nanaw isn't too sure. He had a baseball thing at 5:30 p.m. so Mama had bought him a Lunchable to eat before Nanaw took him home. Nanaw also gave him some ice cream and then took the ice cream home for him to have after dinner. Mama was afraid that having ice cream before dinner was spoiling his appetite for dinner.

Chase had a lot of homework after school on Thursday. He had a major geography assignment that took most of his available study time at Nanaw's house. It was a map of the West of the U.S. and required a lot research on his Chromebook. Nanaw thinks he finally got the assignment done. But he only had a few minutes to study for his science quiz Friday over 15 energy terms. He did have time to study with Mama after the band concert Thursday night and then again before Mama took him to school on Friday morning (she had the day off to go Christmas shopping with Nanaw). For the band concert, they had to be at school by 6:15. They got to sit with Brady's family, which was fun. The event was also an art show, and it was super great to see the wonderful art work the students had done. Chase's drawing was of really fancy, cool looking crickets. Nanaw only knew they were crickets because Chase left his sample drawing with her on Thursday afternoon and told her it was a cricket. Mama thought it was some kind of nine-legged monster. Friday was Mr. G's birthday, and the audience sang Happy Birthday to him. As a joke, the band students sang horribly off-key. The band director said he was glad they hadn't been there Tuesday to sing when the younger grades sang Christmas carols. Nanaw really enjoyed the band concert and was sad that Chase only has three more concerts till he leaves ICS. The pictures below of Chase and his buddies are really cool. When Mama brought Chase over to Nanaw's house on Wednesday morning, they didn't bring the bag of guys. They all thought Chase and Nanaw were going to Chase's house after school instead of Nanaw's because Chase had a haircut appointment. But they all forgot about early dismissal at 2 p.m. So Chase went to Nanaw's after school until 3:45. He had a geography homework assignment, and he worked on that for a long time. Nanaw had created the Christmas train table during the day, and Chase really liked it. The couldn't remember some of the names of the Thomas trains so Chase looked it up. The red train is named James; the black train is named Hiro; and the silver train is named Spencer. Nanaw showed Chase the video link that Aunt Karen sent for him of a major train display, and he thought it was great -- he said Wow when he was watching it. When Nanaw took Chase home, he signed and addressed the Christmas card for Brittany, the lady who cuts his hair. Mama bought a present for her but Nanaw doesn't know what it is. So Nanaw will have to ask. Yesterday, Uncle Mike called Nanaw to tell her some very sad news. Our Lady of Guadeloupe, the Florissant Catholic school where Aunt Becky is the principal, is closing at the end of the school year. They are deeply in debt with no way out. Aunt Becky loved the school, the students, and working there so this is very sad for her.

Chase and Nanaw discovered on Tuesday morning that Tee Tee wasn't in the bag of guys. Nanaw looked all around the computer lab but Tee Tee wasn't anywhere to be found. Nanaw told Chase she would go over to house and try to find Tee Tee. Nanaw went to Chase's house when she went to get the newspaper at Schnuck's. She looked all over the bed but couldn’t find Tee Tee. She told Mama about it and said she and Chase would look again after school. Then Nanaw said she didn't look on the floor and that she would  go back and look there. Mama said that would  be good because she was worried that Sly might find Tee Tee and chew him up. So Nanaw went back to Chase's house and found Tee Tee under Chase's bed. Yay! Everybody was very happy. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, she told him all about the Tee Tee adventure, and Chase was so happy to see his best friend. Chase did his English homework and then he and Nanaw studied the vocabulary words for tomorrow's Reading quiz. He has a science quiz on chapter 5 Friday; Nanaw will read the chapter in her science book and then quiz Chase on it.

Mama is going to the grocery store after work today so Nanaw didn’t have any chocolate milk to go with Chase's breakfast on Monday morning so she gave him the chocolate Premier protein drink and that worked well. Chase has to take his Frisbee Science Fair project to school tomorrow so Mama gave it to Daddy to give it to Nanaw to put in the back seat of her car so there will be no forgetting of the project. Nanaw wishes that parents and grandparents could go look at the Science Fair projects but they don't let them do that. Thursday night is Chase's Christmas band concert, and he has to be there at 6:15. It's also an Art Show of the students' art projects from art class. After school, Chase studied with Nanaw on the vocabulary for the Mockingbird test on Wednesday. He knows it pretty well but they'll go over the words again tomorrow. Chase had an earache this afternoon, and Mama was going to get ear drops for him. Nanaw forgot to take a picture of him so she asked him to take a selfie on the drive home. Unfortunately, it was very dark so you can barely see his sweet little face in the picture below.

Happy Hockey Tournament in Omaha! Friday, December 6 to Sunday, December 8

On Thursday evening, Mama brought Sylvester and Tyler over for their three days with Nanaw. It was very sad to not have precious Sam with them. Unfortunately, Chase's hockey team lost their first game on Friday 14 to 0. Mama said it was really bad. Mama sent a picture of Chase on the ice and Chase eating pizza. Nanaw sent Mama pictures of Sylvester and Tyler. Chase's team lost their second game but Mama said the team had fun and that's what matters. Chase and one of his hockey buddies went to the workout room at the hotel and Chase lifted weights and walked on the treadmill. They got home a little after 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, and Mama came to pick up Sylvester and Tyler. Nanaw was having lunch with friends in Wentzville so she didn't get to see Mama. For dinner, they had Domino's Pizza, always a favorite. Nanaw came over to visit Chase in the evening and had fun playing with Chase and his stuffed animals.
