When Chase and Mama got to Nanaw's house on Thursday morning, Chase was saying he was sick and couldn't go to school. Mama said he'd been coughing all night, and Chase said his belly hurt. Mama asked Nanaw to see if she could convince him to go to school. If not, she should call Mama so Mama could call the school. At first, Nanaw didn't think she was going to be able to get him to go to school. Then at about 7:25, he did an about face and said he'd go to school. So Nanaw made sure he got dressed, and they went to school. Nanaw discovered that most of the things in Chase's pencil box had disappeared. He only had some crayons and one marker. No pencils, no scissors, no glue stick, mostly no markers. So Nanaw brought a supply of everything when Nanaw did her volunteer work with the groups. But she was disappointed that Chase wasn't included in the groups. Chase said his teacher didn't call his name to go out in a group but he didn't know why. After school, Chase and Nanaw went to the Telegraph Road library to do the May scavenger hunt. To their delight, it was a Where's Waldo scavenger hunt, and they had a lot of fun doing it. To explain the mysterious mix of pictures: the first one shows Chase lying next to his skeleton pajamas; then one of cute little Emma; Chase in the back seat; the Waldo scavenger hunt; Chase playing one of the games at the library; Chase's homework that Mama accidentally gave to Nanaw; and the Jack slippers got left at Nanaw's so they're having a sleepover.
