Chase was home from school on Wednesday because of the weather. His teacher sent home two packets of school work, one for Wednesday and one for Thursday (in case Thursday was a day off from school also also -- and we heard this afternoon that he's off school again tomorrow). Daddy brought Chase over to Nanaw's at about eight. Chase was all excited about his "school" day and said, very much the self-starter, "Let's go get set up in the computer lab." (That's what he calls Pawpaw's bedroom.) He got out his papers and arranged them on the table. It was very cute. One of his projects is to make an Ark of the Covenant, and he's going to work with Daddy on that. He needs a shoebox and gold spray paint. At one point, he said to Nanaw, "I've made an executive decision. We're moving to the downstairs school room." So Chase and Nanaw went downstairs with the guys, and Chase sat at Pawpaw's desk to do his school work. While they were downstairs, Chase played in the Thomas house. They went back upstairs for lunch. After lunch, Chase did his long division and checked his work with multiplication just like he's supposed to. Nanaw was very impressed at how self-directed he was. Mama says he had to explain mixed numbers and improper fractions to her for his homework last night. LOL He watched Teaching in Room 9 on Channel 9 and was so excited to see his favorite, Mrs. Forth, reading a story. Part of his school work was to do a journal entry about his opinion of a "school" day versus a snow day. In part of it he said even if it was a snow day, his grandma would make him do school work. He said he would have preferred a snow day because when he goes to school he sees his friends, and he likes that a lot. He wrote more than a page for the entry, which is shocking, considering that it used to be that we couldn't even get him to write a sentence. Once his school work was done, he went outside to play in what little snow we got -- less than 1/2 an inch. We're supposed to get lots tonight -- hopefully. He got his clothes all wet, and all Nanaw had for him to change into was a very small pair of pants. He went outside a second time later in the afternoon, right before Mama and Daddy came to pick him up. This time he wore his snow pants so he didn't get his sweat pants wet.
