Merry Christmas Eve! Sunday, December 24, 2023

Chase and Daddy went to church on Christmas Eve morning. Later in the day, they went skating at the Steinberg Ice Rink in Forest Park in St. Louis. Chase really likes skating there, and Daddy said they could go again during Chase's Christmas break if Chase wanted to. The first picture below is one Daddy took of Chase skating. Daddy skated also. In the afternoon, Mama got KFC (which Nanaw still calls Kentucky Fried Chicken) for dinner. Nanaw had bought summer sausage and cheese at Walmart so she brought a plate of sausage, cheese, and crackers for appetizers. The chicken was delicious and so was the slaw. Chase couldn't have any chicken because of what the doctor said so he had mac and cheese, a biscuit, and mashed potatoes and gravy. After dinner, Mama, Daddy, Chase, and Nanaw went on their Christmas Eve adventure. They drove around Columbia looking at Christmas lights. A few times before, they'd gone on Chase's birthday but it was really fun to go on Christmas Eve. Daddy did a great job of driving to all the places that had special lights. First, they drove through Chase's neighborhood and then Lakeside. Then they worked their way through Columbia's ritzy subdivisions -- Wernings, Briar Lakes, Brellinger, Gedern Estates, and Gedern Village. Next, they drove through Main Street Columbia so they could see the massively decorated house across from the Columbia Library. The last stop on their adventure was a tradition -- the house up the street from Wilson, which is the most massively decorated -- and it even has music -- the perfect end to a perfect Christmas Eve.
