Chase had a major adventure today: He went to a new Tot Time program at the Columbia Library. The adventure didn’t start out so well but ended up a success. When Chase and Nanaw first got there, the other children were playing with the toys, and Chase went to join them. He pulled all the "bee-byes" off the toy shelf and played with them on the floor. He also put some of the blocks on the alphabet rug. Then it was story time, and Miss Candy had the children put the toys away, and she read a book to them about fish. But Chase wanted to continue playing with the toys. He cried and threw himself on the floor, no matter what Nanaw did. Fortunately, some new people showed up and Chase got very interested in them and stopped his crying and fussing. Next Miss Candy had the boys and girls go over to the craft table to make a fish in an aquarium. The parents and grandparents helped the children draw a line around their hands and cut them out, for the fish. There were eyes to glue on the fish, and they drew mouths on the fish and then glued them to the aquarium. (Chase’s fish is now on the refrigerator at home.) Chase seemed to have a great time with the pencils and scissors, although he didn’t know what to do with the scissors He scribbled a lot with the pencils so Nanaw is going to give him some to write with. At the end of the program, the children palyed with the toys again, and Nanaw was afraid she’d never get Chase out of there. But Miss Candy gave all of the children chocolate hearts, and Nanaw used the candy to lure Chase to the elevator – success!
