Chase had a major adventure on Tuesday: his first field trip of the year. Mama had the day off so she could go on the field trip. She took Chase to school and then came to pick up Nanaw. Mama and Nanaw had Chase and Drew in their group. On the way to Powell Symphony Hall to hear the St. Louis Symphony, Nanaw sat with Drew on the bus, and Mama and Chase sat together. At Powell Hall, the Symphony Orchestra provided information about instruments. Next, they played Peter and the Wolf, while a narrator read the story. It was cool. Later, Chase said he enjoyed it. They left Powell Hall and went to Tower Grove Park to have lunch. After lunch, the boys and girls played in the park for awhile. At first, Chase hung around with Mama and Nanaw, then Mama convinced him to go play with everybody, and he did. The next stop on the field trip was the Missouri Botanical Garden. The boys and girls had paper bags they'd decorated to use for their nature search. They were to look for leaves, acorns, buds, anything on the ground -- except for rocks and sticks. It was an excellent idea to get the students involved and engaged with all the displays at the Botanical Garden. Everybody had great fun as they walked through the gardens, looking at all the plants and flowers. Mama and Daddy had a parent-teacher conference with Mrs. Meyer in the evening and got Chase's report card and Iowa Test results. They told Nanaw that Chase is a very smart little boy. He scored 72 on the Iowa Test; the goal score was 50. He also got almost all 3s on his report card, the best grade. So he is a very smart little boy.
