Chase and Nanaw did things a little differently on Friday. First, Nanaw watered the plants as soon as they got back from Chase's house rather than waiting until Alexa's 3 p.m. reminder. Nanaw was very excited to see that the radish and pumpkin seeds she planted on Monday have already started to sprout. But not the green beans. At Chase's special request, Nanaw is going to buy some basil seeds tomorrow at the Washington Walmart. In fact, she's going to do all her grocery shopping there tomorrow. She can't go to Waterloo Walmart tonight because Mama is having a small party with Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky and Nanaw is invited. Back to how Nanaw and Chase did things differently. Rather than starting with the regular morning work for school, Chase finished the cursive writing assignment from yesterday. Then he did yesterday's subtraction flash cards and subtraction problems. Then it was time for reading. Nanaw had him read a couple of entries from an Answers book that Uncle Doug passed along to him (it had belonged to his grandsons Ryan and Greg). Chase read aloud about UFOs, why stars twinkle and are there people on other worlds? Chase watched the classes on Room 9 even though they were repeats from earlier in the week -- he really likes the teachers.
