Chase played out in the water Monday morning -- water baseball, of course. It was really hot outside, and he said the water felt really good. Nanaw sat on the front porch watching him play and reading the newspaper. Chase did his AR reading before lunch. He finished the Stonehenge book and started one of the Big Nate books. He had canned pears with his ham and cheese sandwich and chips for lunch. He liked the pears the school served at lunch so he wanted to try them at Nanaw's house. He said he liked the pears but maybe he'd try the ones in syrup the next time. Later in the afternoon, Nanaw gave him part of the orange she bought at the grocery store for him last week, at his request. He said he liked that also. Mama and Nanaw are trying to get him to eat more healthy food. School went well again. They did state capitals, division flashcards, long division problems, multiplication problems, punctuation questions (commas and quotation marks), and other miscellaneous worksheets. Chase had a baseball game, and Mama picked him up at 4:40 so he could go home and put on his baseball uniform. Mama said it was miserably hot at the game, and they lost.
